The contact owns a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH and pulling into a parking lot, the vehicle inadvertently stalled and the ignition key was released. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that she reinserted the key into the ignition switch and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure reoccurred as she was attempting to pull into a parking space. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the camshaft had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred twice while driving from the independent mechanic to her residence. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic. The contact contacted an unknown dealer who advised that they were not aware of that specific failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 14V373000 (air bags, electrical system) and 10V235000 (electrical system). While driving off the lot after the vehicle was repaired, the radio failed and the ignition module was burned. In addition, there was smoke coming from under the hood. The contact stated that there was an abnormal odor of anti-freeze inside the vehicle. Prior to the repair, the vehicle had not exhibited any failures. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the failure was awaiting to be determined. The approximate failure mileage was 107,094.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country. While the vehicle was stationary, the contact turned the ignition key and smoke began to pour out from under the hood. The vehicle would not start and had to be towed. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
The vehicle was in park and running in a parking lot. The van had been running and in motion for approximately 10 minutes prior to arriving at the parking lot where it was then placed into park and left running while waiting for my kids to get out of school. Radio on, heat on then with no warning at all the vehicle shut off, lost all power. I was unable to remove the key from the ignition. It would not go into the off position allowing me to remove the key. I tried to turn the key to the various positions to start the car and nothing happened. Auto locks would not unlock, the car was completely dead. I sat for about 5 minutes in a panic trying to figure out how cars I was blocking were going to get out of their parking spots. Then the van suddenly started up on its own. My hands were not on the keys, nowhere near the ignition and it just started up. …
Hello, can you give me any information about the 'totally integrated power module' (TIPM) in my 2009 Chrysler Town and Country lx, 3.3l minivan? How to diagnose a problem with it? Are there known problems with it? My van exhibits the following random conditions' 1.) horn stops working after repeated use. It will work again after a period of time. Recently, I have pushed on the horn and it will blow and then cut out after a couple of seconds. This happen whether the van is in motion or stationary. 2.) starter will rotate the engine but engine will not fire. This is very infrequent but has gotten a little worse. Engine will eventually start and run fine. And the next time it needs to start it will without issue. Also, one time during the same day that this happened, the engine started but then immediately died.it started and ran fine after that. Van was always stationary. …
My car stops while driving down the road without warning, easily restarts after shifting into neutral. However, RPM goes to zero, lose power steering. Did not have this issue prior to key fob recall. It has done this several times, usually when weather is colder like 30 degree. Have also notice blind spot aid system will periodically not function. Heated seat light occasionally do not function. The blind spot and heated seats are minor compared to car stopping dead. It did recently while going around a curve and was very scary. I've taken it to two different dealers and they state there are no engine codes showing. I told my husband if I die in a vehicle crash, especially if rear ended or while turning to sue Chrysler. Do not have this problem in warm weather. I'm afraid to have anyone in my vehicle, especially my five grandkids. …
To an odi investigator: there is a clear and present danger present with this vehicle randomly shutting down while driving. I have experienced this shutting down on approximately 15+ occasions. When the vehicle shuts down, I lose power steering, braking and I'm sure airbags. In reviewing the first 30 complaints associated with this vehicle - I observed 6 out of 30 complaints related to the same problem, all described this event (I didn't want to weed through all 200+ complaints when the first 30 exhibited this serious issue) - the vehicle shutting down while driving. …
Car is dangerous! Engine has stalled repeatedly when in motion. Has been in for corrections three times with no improvement. Re. L25/NHTSA 14v-373 recall, fobik was replaced by ziegler in mich.--followed by more stalling, subsequently by phillips in florida (also replaced wyn/fobc module--9dec15)--followed by more stalling, subsequently phillips updated PCM & TIPM--5feb16,car stalled next day and then again the day after. Stalling usually occurs within a mile after starting the engine. Can then turn off the ignition key and restart the engine. Usually the engine then runs without stalling. Regarding "when did this happen?" stalling has occurred most recently several times in December, 2015 and several times in January and February, 2016. …
Our 2009 t&c stalled in city traffic this morning without any warning when slowing down to below 20-30 MPH (with the traction control light briefly illuminating after the stall). It had stalled previously 3 separate times in similar situations when either my wife or son were driving the van. Of course when the engine dies there is no power steering or power brakes which makes handling the vehicle extremely difficult. The van immediately restarts when you turn the ignition key, but the CEL does not light up so there are no codes in the computer to help diagnose the problem. This is a serious problem that lots of people are having. Just read the blogs on the internet. If the van stalls while making a turn and you can't brake or steer, then it's just a matter of time before a potentially serious accident occurs. …
I received a safety recall notice on the wireless ignition node module on my vehicle which said I should contact my dealer "right away" to schedule a service appointment. I had asked about this the last time I was there about two months ago and was told that they didn't have the parts in stock yet. Last night, my engine shut off while I was driving down my street, which I assume was a result of this defective part. Thankfully I wasn't going very fast, but it definitely scared me and could have been tragic had I been on the highway, going at a faster speed or had another vehicle close behind me. I just called my dealer to get an appointment asap to get this taken care of and was told that they still don't have the part and won't until probably mid-September. I think it's unacceptable to have to wait that long to fix a safety issue, especially when I've experienced a problem.
