This is the 2nd PT Cruiser that I have owned. The first one was great! But...this one!! Ongoing problems since we have owned the car!!!! Seat belt wouldn't unlock couldn't get out of car. I was locked in. Someone had to open door from outside. Lights always flickering. Loss power. Acts up while driving. Finally got so bad that the car would just stall out. Took to dealership and was told they couldn't find anything wrong. They said...and I quote "remember we didn't do anything." why would they say that? The latest... Lights flickering, radio going on and off stopped at a store. When I came couldn't unlock the car with my remote. Had to use key to get in, alarm went off, had to jump in and start car to turn alarm off. Pulled out into traffic and the car quit. Completely stalled out. …
On April 8th, this year, I was in an auto accident in my 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser and broke my back; there is a chance I May not be able to work as a hospital inpatient nurse ever again because I have to be able to lift 100 pounds. My 6 air bags did not deploy and my seat belt malfunctioned (it lengthened during the flipping of the car) allowing my body to turn around, facing the rear, and crushed my spine against the steering wheel. I had just finished a 12-hr night shift at the hospital, was just one mile from home, swerved to the shoulder to avoid a rabbit. The tires slipped off the shoulder into the grass (the speed limit was 50mph & I usually drive a little under), I was very tired & over-corrected which caused the car to roll sideways 4 times and then hit two trees. It was about 8 am and no one found me for almost 1/2 hr. I was conscious the entire time. …
Our 2008 PT Cruiser was going north and a woman exiting an interstate going east ran a red light and hit us. The impact ripped off the front bumper, destroyed the engine, and twisted the front of the Cruiser so the passenger door could not open. We were going 35mph I estimate her speed to be 55mph. None of the air bags in the Cruiser deployed and the seat belt in the passenger side did not hold the passenger back. The passenger in the Cruiser hit the dash causing injuries. The seat belt did not lock or tighten at all. This has to be a defective seat belt because the driver's side seat belt held them back.
We own a 2007 PT Cruiser, a 2007. This is the second PT Cruiser that we have bought. My husband and his friend, who was driving at the time, had an accident on January 21, 2009. They swerved to keep from hitting a dog and they hit a guardrail almost head on and again the air bags did not deployed and the shoulder straps did not catch. This is the second time that this same thing has happened to us in a wreck with our PT cruisers. We owned a 2003 PT Cruiser, I had a wreck on April 18, 2008, the air bags did not deploy, and the shoulder strap did not catch, as a result, it threw me forward and caused a bad injury to my left shoulder. I stopped at a red light and a car rear-ended me at approximately 50 MPH. It threw me forward into the steering wheel and I injured my left shoulder where I had my hand resting on the steering wheel. …
I was in a car in September of 2007. I was driving a 2007 PT Cruiser. I rearend a truck infront of me doing approximately 30-35mph. My safety belt didn't lock and my air bags did not deploy. Needless to say my head hit full force into the steering wheel. Road conditions where dry. It was just stop & go traffic bumper to bumper. I just didn't react fast enough. I was told that the sensor for the air bag was located in the center of interior dash console.
Driver suffered a diabetic hypoglycemic incident and ran off the road and collided with a guard rail. The accident was a frontal impact that resulted in significant damage to the front bumper, fenders, engine compartment, suspension, and frame. The accident damaged approximately 40' of guard rail, including the end section. During the accident, the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle has a history of intermittent air bag warning light activation, and has undergone replacement of several key components of the control system (I.e. SRS module, clockspring in steering column, and wiring harness under front passenger seat). The vehicle speed at the time of the accident is unknown, but estimated at less than 40mph. Weather was clear, sunny. Traffic was none to light conditions. Road conditions were excellent. …
It was my nephew car, driving my mother. My mother was injured with internal bleeding, fractures, and 1/3-1/2 of her body bruised. She says the seat belt didnt lock, and she flew up a bit from her seat. She had a huge bruise under her thigh too. She was sitting in the passenger seat. My nephew had little bruising in the driver seat. The other car that was involved, the driver was OK.. And walking too. My issue is does this car have complaints about the seat belt not locking in a crash? Please let me know, as I would like the car investigated before they let the insurance company get it, as it was totaled per them, as it hit head on with another car saide.
