What owners report

When I opened my vehicle to get in, I heard something loud hitting the back panel. I then noticed my rear window had fell 3/4 of the way out and hit the back panel of my car. The adhesive on the rear window assembly failed causing the window assembly to partially fall out. I immediately left the car in park and will not drive it as the remaining portions of the window structure could come out causing an unsafe hazard to myself and others as the window May hit the driver or others on the road when it fully comes out. I only have 33,000 miles on the car and have had this car in my garage since the day I purchased it. This has been a problem with this vehicle since 2005, at which time Chrysler issued an 'extended warranty' which included the cost to fix this defect to those numerous 2005's who complained. …

2008 Crossfire Roadster · 33,000 miles · Apr 2015

On July 10 when I left the office, I was driving the car to go home in the afternoon and I noticed a strange noise coming from the back side of the vehicle. In the red traffic light stop I inspected the rear glass and I realized it is detached almost 70%, mainly the bottom portion, just the upper side was attached. I drove carefully about 5 miles to get home and I was worried because the glass can fall off from the car and have an incident while driving in the rush hour in the avenue I always take (45 miles/hr). I cannot drive the car in this condition. I investigated and I see similar reports about this rear glass coming off.

2008 Crossfire Roadster · 0 miles · Jul 2019

While driving I heard a bang in the back and sudden change of air in the cabin - rear window in my 2007 Roadster separated from the top and fell inside - the only thing that prevented it from hitting me in the head was the electric wire (defroster) that window is attached to. I had to go below speed limit to make it home safely. Chrysler dealership said there was nothing they can do and it would cost over $1,500 to get it replaced, but tops are on back order right now and it will take several weeks to get it in. After research - seems unfair that a known problem that all owners of this car face was not addressed by the company.

2007 Crossfire Roadster · 98,000 miles · Jun 2016

While parked in my garage the rear window on my 2007 convertible Crossfire began to separate from the top. Chrysler told me I had to take it to an upholstery shop with would cost me $750 - $1400 for a new top. I used 3m window weld and it held for a while but then began to separate again. This is the third time it has started to separate. I was told that a new top would last 1-2 years for of course $1400. I still see no recall for this defect. The problem started in 2012.

2007 Crossfire Roadster · 37,000 miles · Nov 2012

This 2006 Crossfire Roadster is garage kept. The car was parked, when the glass separated on three sides from the cloth convertible top. Failure of the rear window glass appears to be due to lack of attachment, other than adhesive glue. The cloth convertible top is in good condition. This poses a significant safety hazard to the public, considering the vehicle is rated at speeds in excess of 150 MPH. It appears that Chrysler has recalled some 2005 models which have the same type convertible tops and glass windows, made by karmann. As the safety issues continue I would hope that Chrysler would recall all of these defective parts before the public is seriously injured or killed. I await an urgent response from Chrysler to fix this hazardous problem me. Please contact me with your best efforts to make this right and keep everyone safe. 2-13-18 disappointed driver in east tennessee

2006 Crossfire Roadster · 57,000 miles · Feb 2018

Rear glass window falling out of 2006 Chrysler Crossfire convertable. The corners of the rear window started to separate from the roof material. After putting the top down and putting it back up, most of the top and corners of the rear window were loose from the roof fabric, I called the Chrysler dealership to find out how it could be repaired. They told me that a new convertible top would be needed. It could not be repaired. Chrysler dealer quoted $1,650 for the top and $1,000 for labor

2006 Crossfire Roadster · 69,000 miles · Jun 2015

During a severe rainstorm the rear window glass detached from the convertible top allowing severe flooding of the interior of the vehicle causing various electrical failures to occur. This sudden and unexpected event caused an emergency stop in traffic that could have resulted in an accident. The residual damage from this event affects rear window visibility and electrical failures that involve the operation of the locking system, the anti fog rear window capability and other electrical systems in the rear part of the vehicle which I cannot access because of the inoperative top and trunk.

2005 Crossfire Roadster · 36,000 miles · Jul 2015

In mid 2009 I noticed that the rear window glass in my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Roadster was delaminating from the canvas apparently due to a poor adhesive bond. I was able to re-attach it myself after I was refused service by my local Chrysler dealer due to "adhesives and the soft top are not covered". He cited "environmental factors can not be controlled" and are excluded from warranty service. This car was purchased in georgia at a Chrysler dealership and is kept garaged. It is driven approximately 4500 miles per year, and is immaculate. The top is separating again and after contacting Chrysler customer care, I was told that mine is excluded from a recent "partial" recall for cars only manufactured on "certain production lines" in michigan. Or originally delivered to a few "hot" states. Mine was apparently delivered to michigan. …
