What owners report
Vehicle was parked with all doors locked and the vehicle not running. The remote unlock button was engaged and all doors unlocked with the exception of the driver door. The remote unlock was engaged 3 to 4 more times. The door was manually unlocked from passenger's side. When the door was opened, smoke was pouring out of the inside. We poured available liquids down the window slot but smoke was still pouring out. While my spouse went inside the business where we were parked to grab a pitcher of water, I jerked the plastic oval piece around the inside door handle off and saw flames. He returned with the pitcher and we poured the water down the open hole at the door handle and finally managed to extinguish the flames. We drove the vehicle home but none of the door functions worked at all. It is going to cost me approximately $600 to fix this issue. …

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated that the door lock system failed and caused the contact to be locked inside the vehicle. The contact was able to exit the vehicle through the hatch back door. In addition, the headlights failed to illuminate. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number: 13V248000 (electrical system, visibility door module) and NHTSA campaign number: 14V755000 (exterior lighting) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. I came out to my vehicle today, unlocked the door with the keyless remote but the driver's door was unresponsive. Upon starting the vehicle I realized the windows don't work on the driver's side as well. I removed the driver door control module to find a burn mark internally on the door as well as burnt plastic on the door module itself. The window and lock worked fine the night before so I'm concerned with the short circuit occurring over night without a key in the ignition.
Tl contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Since purchasing the vehicle, the headlamps flicker or dim while driving, similar to a power surge. The dealer was initially unable to duplicate the failure. When the failure was able to be duplicated, the dealer was unable to make a repair. At the end of September of 2007, the steering column made a sparking sound and the dealer could not duplicate the failure once more. On September 20, 2007, the radio and all the components on the instrument panel failed intermittently. The vehicle had to be turned off and restarted for them to eventually operate again. In addition, the dome lights would remain illuminated. The driver's side door latches were replaced twice. The rear hatchback latch was replaced twice. When the key was removed from the ignition, the key buzzer would continue to sound. …
Driver's side passenger door left rear door latch on 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer ls is stuck. The door will not shut! I have read another complaint for the very same reason and a very similar situation to the ext and there is a recall on the ext but doesn't pertain to the ls. I can't shut my door because the latch won't connect.I opened the door and could not shut it after that because it wouldn't latch. We have looked everywhere and have not been able to locate the part at a reasonable price. I was in the process of selling it, but because of this faulty defect we cannot sell it. We have not been able to get it fixed. No one seems to have the part and we contacted dealerships and they looked up recalls but couldn't help us cause our VIN number isn't covered. What do we do now??
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact was driving 30 MPH when another driver informed her that the vehicle was on fire. The contact moved off the roadway and attempted to exit the vehicle but the doors would not unlock. The door finally opened after several attempts of engaging the automatic door lock function. The police and fire department was notified. The cause of the failure was an electrical malfunction. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 157,000. ...updated 07-10-13 updated 07/16/2013
In September 2009, my 2004 Trailblazer started going haywire! It lost all power (while going down the interstate), the power/cigarette outlets stopped working, the doors started locking themselves (sometimes with the keys in the ignition) , the radio would go loud or stop working, my speedometer went nuts (like saying that I was doing 65mph, when I was at a complete stop or 120mph down the hwy), the service engine soon light would go on and off,and my heater will not blow out the vents in the dash. We have taken it to a mechanic. He tried everything from replacing the battery, fuel filter, and spark plugs. He even hooked it up to his scanner (which showed that there was nothing wrong with the car) all this and $700.00 later I still have the same problems. Now I'm told that the electrical panel will need to be replaced at a cost around $500-$900!! …
