Owner reports

Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).

I was driving on the highway going 65mph which is the legal speed limit. I got cut off by a driver and light tapped my brakes to slow the vehicle down. When I did so the vehicle then swerved to the left and started drifting sideways directly to a wall. I went head on with the wall. Then I bounced back across all lanes of traffic again still sideways and drifting hitting another wall. Which is where the vehicle ended at the stopping point of the accident. No airbags deployed in the accident. The driver behind me who witness the crash stated that the vehicle started to loose traction before I hit my brakes and me hitting my brakes caused the vehicle to them loose full control. I was in the process of buying this vehicle from Gresham Ford in Oregon. I was told the vehicle was 100% road safe and passed safety inspections. Which is false.

Recently bought a car that I believe they are illegally passing the inspections on. They proclaimed that fixed a major part to keep the tires on my car tie rods and cv axel. Just short time after it looked like the part was never replaced just tightened up and shortly after we had all kinds of issues with the brakes and anything that keeps the car driveing safely the brakes went out on me so I called to see what they did and why they never fixed it the berry next day they repo the car as if they are trying to hide and cover up the scams they have on people my kids are in that car daily it should be never passed the inspection we have had to pay for most of that. …

It was drizzling that morning. I was driving in the far right lane. When all of a sudden my steering wheel was taking over my driving. My truck went left into another lane on its on. I saw another vehicle coming up in that left lane. All I could do was ask my truck what was wrong. And I started talking to the lord. Please don't let me hit this truck. Please help me. Next thing I was pulled back to the right hand lane and then off the road I went. I went through the woods over stomps and bumps. And then crashed into a huge tree. I fainted.I heard someone yelling. I opened my eyes to life. The police came out. And the ambulance. Thank god I'm not to cool for a safe belt. Cause my airbags didn't deploy. I was told they May deploy at anytime so I needed to get out of truck. My seatbelt left its print on my neck and chest. The truck was crushed in. …

I have a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer with Goodyear wrangler sr-a tires. These tires are the absolute worst tires I have ever owned in my 34 years of driving! In dry conditions they are tolerable but one can tell that they're not sticking well to the road. When it rained slightly it becomes near impossible to drive with these tires. The best way to describe it is as if you are trying to drive on a slick roadway almost like driving on oil or similiar to driving a race car on slick tires to drift with.

Greetings national transportation safety administration, I would like to introduce myself as anthony horsley, sr. On Tuesday morning at 5:30 am, my cooper made tires broke down on the left rear side of the of my vehicle, which is a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. I managed to get off the freeway and exit safely. I pulled over at a parking lot to discover that the tire had separated and the loose rubber had ripped a hole in my bumper. The cooper tire is a dominator class 255 - 70 - r16, originally purchased through discount tire, with full warranty. In February of 2008 I was alerted when I brought in the Trailblazer for an alignment check that the tires were being recalled and they subsequently replaced the front tires with Michelin ltx tires. I asked them why they had not replaced the rear tires as well as they were the same type. …

The indicated vehicle is my wife's. We bought it brand new on 09/26/2001. She has never towed anything and has city and highway miles. We have had numerous problems: instrument cluster, rear tailgate strap, right rear brake light, (3) solenoids, spare tire dropdown and deteriorated transmission lines. I have repaired all of the previous out of pocket (except for the strap and the spare tire dropdown). Now, my wife was on the way to the bicycle store in her truck, with the bicycle on the back. She was making a turn onto the main road when she heard grinding and squealing, and the speed dropped drastically. Luckily, it was around 10 am when there is not much traffic on the road. Reading numerous posts on this website, it is the same problem everyone has had, the transmission sun shell, and no reverse. …

I was driving west on the #10 fry near palm springs ca (65-70 MPH) when the front left tire began to thumb and come apart. Aprx. 80% of the tire tread/belt separated from the definity dakota tire. The remaining tire never went flat. After pulling to the side of the road I called aaa and they removed the tire and replaced it with my spare. The aaa tow truck driver said the tire clearly failed due to a defect. Three days later the car ( Chevy. Trailblazer) was taken to a repair shop, due to the flapping tread causing fl body, headlight, f bumper, l running board and fl wheel well damage. Seidner's repair shop removed the defected tire, it was discarded in error and they were not able to retrieve it. The orig set of tires were purchased at pep boys 5/21/06, when I returned last week (5/22/10) to the store where I purchased the set they told me per there corp. …
