The contact also indicated that while his wife was driving, the odor of fuel was present inside the vehicle. Upon inspection, his wife discovered fuel leaking from the vehicle. Well taken care of 2020 trailboss upper control arm completely failed driving down the interstate with family in the truck. Suspect defect from ball joints. Only 68k miles. No warnings. Tire fell into suspension causing thousands in damage. Had to be towed. At high speed we could've all been killed. Seen multiple reports online of similar ball joint/ control arm failures. This needs to be addressed ASAP! Very dangerous.

vehicle has approximately 45k miles, We were 2.5 hours away from home on a paved highway driving 55mph and the front passenger side ball joint failed and upper control arm separated also Instantly no brakes causing an accident . This is very dangerous and is going to kill people , we are lucky we didn't roll . I'm now afraid this will happen to the other side? chevy will not take the responsibility to fix it , our extended warranty only covered the upper control arm and not any of the other parts that had damage due to the ball joint . it was a 2.5 hour tow as well . Also the tow truck driver said within a week this was the 4th Chevy truck with the same issue 2 of them Rolled . …

When the truck was less than 2years and less than 20,000 miles old it developed a clunking noise in the rear suspension. Sounds like 2 heavy pieces of metal softly being knocked together. The dealership inspected it and replaced both rear shocks. The noise was still there. The dealership replaced the left leaf spring assembly. This temporarily eliminated the noise. The noise came back at just under 3 years and 30,000 miles. The dealership inspected, but couldn't find the source of the problem. The noise has only worsened since then, and at a recent visit to the dealership, they could clearly hear the problem. I was told that it is the result of worn cushions between the leaf springs. I'm concerned that the truck may be unsafe. I've been contacted by GM, and at this time they are looking into how to fix it, and who should be responsible for the repair. …

I'm not sure what to call most of this but my truck has been vibrating when getting up to about 50 mph. When putting in gear it shows you put it in the gear wanted put doesn't register sometimes and perks you and clicks. The entire front end grinds, pops and clicks when turning forward or backwards. When doing the steering wheel will get stuck and want turn for a split second in turn causing steering To be misaligned causing you to basically steer the wheel in an unnatural position until you stop put it in park then proceed to drive again. I have had these issues since we bought the vehicle brand new. We have to get an alignment and balance rotation like every 6 months for it to only help for a about a month to not be as bad.

Today while driving , the upper ball joint separated from the control arm, causing the truck to pull hard to the right. I was able to keep from wrecking the truck. While doing research it seems that this is a common occurrence with the Silverado Trail Boss and the Sierra AT4. I read a safety recall report on these vehicles, 21V-718, after reading this, it's exactly what happened with my truck. Ball joints is rusting and corroded. Vehicle is able to be inspected upon request. If I had been on the freeway traveling, it would have caused a severe single or multiple car accident as I lost control to steer. No symptoms leading up to the situation.

Driving 20 mph on paved downtown street when cross arm failed causing wheel to twist 90 degrees causing damage to brakes, drivetrain, abs, and steering. No warning just pop and trying to maintain my lane before able to turn into parking lot. Towed to dealer and diagnosed with control arm failure. They are aware of this issue and now replace control arms stronger rough country control arms and level the truck differently. DeAler is claiming GMC will not cover and they are calling it a suspension issue and out of warranty two months. Truck has 26000 miles on it. Lucky event happened at 20 mph and I was able to maintain control of vehicle

At 11,000 miles my car began to wobble dangerously. I took it to the dealership and they informed me that two Pins were missing from the alignment cams. They blamed Goodyear for not doing a good alignment at 3,000 miles. Goodyear says they see a lot of these issues in their shop and believes GM needs to recall and fix this issue on all of its models. The repair cost me $459.69. GM said this was not covered under warranty, since someone else did the alignment. This doesn't see fair and I think the government needs to look into this.

Sep 2021

I was driving the vehicle but it sounded like it was popping when I would turn and when I shifted gears. As a result, my brakes were not working and I almost hit another vehicle. I took it to the dealership where they claimed they fixed the issue. When I picked it up this past Saturday, within a block of the dealership, the truck began shaking and a rattling noise could be heard. I had to take the truck back to the dealership. The truck is at the dealership where it is supposed to be inspected again and hopefully properly fixed.
