I began having problems with my windshield wipers only working sporadically, and when discussing with a friend, I discovered there might be a recall regarding my vehicle. When I went online to search if I was covered, I discovered multiple GM recalls that covered the problem I was having, and online it seemed as though my van qualified. When I phoned a dealer with my VIN #, I was told I was not covered under the recall. I believe that my vehicle is experiencing the same problem covered by the recall of thousands of other GM vehicles.

Recall 97v-017 95 Chevrolet Lumina not honored or acknowledged by either Chevrolet (GM) manufacturing or a local dealer. Windshield washer.wiper switch is inoperable; dealer's service dept. Requires customer payment to replace pivot and pulse/dimmer switch, but this problem should be fixed "at no charge to customers, regardless of mileage, age of vehicle, or ownership, from this time on - recall 97v-017".. Upon making a stop the brake pedal became very difficult to depress, causing extended stopping distance and loss of brake effectivness. In addition, the location and the design of the horn makes it difficult in an emergency to locate and depress the horn. Also, due to the shape of the windshield there is a strong reflection of the front section which is very bad during certain daylight conditions.
Horn would blow on its own. Informed by mechanic the air bag had a short which caused the horn to blow. There was no warning light regarding the air bag defect. Also, the driver side window has an intermittent electrical problem causing window to be inoperable. Dealer disconnected the air bag to keep horn form blowing, and GM offered to pay for half of the repairs needed to correct the problem.
