I don't have a complaint about a specific make or model...I have an overall complaint about how thin cars are today and how much they are not protecting the occupants. My brother was killed 2 weeks ago after hydroplaning at about 35 MPH. I know heavier vehicles use more gas but aren't lives worth it? I know that as a nation we have become very money conscious and gas mileage is a biggie but everyone who has had someone killed in a senseless accident might feel differently afterward. Please advise what if anything is being done in the auto industry as a whole to change the trend and make cars more protective.
Tl contact owns a 1995 Chevrolet Lumina. While driving approximately 10 MPH, the contact heard a loud banging noise underneath the vehicle. Upon further inspection, she noticed that the frame of the vehicle was fractured, which caused it to separate from the vehicle. The vehicle was pushed to her place of residence. The contact is in the process of having the vehicle inspected to determine the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 150,000.
1- every time the weather is wet and cold, all 4 doors freeze shut. This is due to the design of the body. The doors allow water to collect all around the top and vertical sides and the water freezes...locking me out of the car. Neither the dealer nor mfg have a solution. 2- brakes: every time the weather is wet, or even with high humidity the brakes squeal and grab which initiates the ABS system which in turn brings the car to a "jerky motion" stopping situation. Neither the dealer nor the mfg have a solution....and even more frustrating to me...neither the dealer nor the mfg seem to "give a [redacted]".
My windshield wipers keep shorting out. Some times they work and sometimes they don't. The bracket to hold the front seat broke and had to be replaced. The handles on the passenger door broke and needed to be replaced and now the sliding door is doing the same. The brake light keeps coming on and the antilock brakes make a grinding noise when applied.
Help my car is falling apart and the dealer wants huge sums to fix these problems some of which I believe are defects. $500 for a defroster switch-ouch, power locks failed, alternator failed, consumes 1 qt of oil every 800 miles, stalls at start in am. Can I get help from GM on these items ? Your help is appreciated
When brakes are applied hard, driver's door would slide forward off track. Fender would impede its progress. Passenger's door fails to open. Brakes: brake pads worn down. Front end misalignment, causing vehicle vehicle to pull hard to right/tires to wear out. Will be taking vehicle to dealer.
Both outside door handles, driver side and passenger side, broke within 3 months of each other. Both broke in the same manner. The door could not be opened from the outside. In my opinion, this woould be a safety hazard if a person in the vehicle needed emergency assistance fom the outside.
Latch on electric sliding door releases when vehicle standing discharging battery. Company recalling 1997 on for this defect. It is safety hazard if it should occur running. In emergency car cannot be relied on. I believe my vehicle is not safe without this correction.
Sliding door on the vehicle opens and closes intermittently without activation of the power remote transmitter, on one occasion child fell out of vehicle in motion and was hanging by the seat belt.(attorney for consumer).
Another vehicle backed into the side of consumer's vehicle door while traveling about 20 MPH, and causing interior part of door to break. Dealer has yet to be contacted. Please provide further details.
