What owners report
Loss of vehicle control while travelling at uniform highway speeds (67 MPH) in a slight turn and rain. After crashing, found right rear toe link broken away from knuckle, allowing the right rear wheel to articulate and toe-in/out easily.
There are already a few reports on the skipping and hopping at low speeds when the wheels are locked all the way left or right while turning. I experienced this on delivery and have owned the car for 9 months. Since the cold weather has arrived the issue has gotten even more severe, like the front end is going to fall off. Chevrolet will not admit to this problem/issue but it is a generally know issue related to the "ackerman" effect. Motortrend identified it and resorted to saying the 2014 Corvette is no parking lot car. Chevrolet still has no comment. Had I known about this I personally would not have bought the vehicle. In my opinion Chevrolet has a fiduciary responsibility to make the buyer aware. Also, if you see some of the blogs on corvettes it is also acknowledged there. I have been to the dealer about it and they are clueless. …
Car purchased in michigan 01/21/2013. While on vacation from michigan to montana to california back to michigan via route 66 I encountered a rear interior excessive overheating problem. Exterior temperature upper 80's to upper 90's the temperature of the carpet and arm rest storage area would exceed 120 deg. Lift up a suitcase or put arm on console storage area would burn your arm or hand. If you lifted the suitcase and touched the bottom or arm on armrest would burn you hand or arm. Heat inside storage area exceeded est. Of 130 deg and burned spots in cell phone screen and computer in suitcase melted hard drive and ruined computer. The ac on interior heat was approx 75 degs, I have a privacy curtain covering the rear storage area thus making it much cooler than one without it. Anything touching carpet in rear, inside arm rest or putting your arm on the rest would burn it. …
Car did not respond to steering on a turn at moderate speed ( 15-20 MPH) on slippery road surface. The turn was tight and nearly a reverse in direction. I approached the turn in rainy conditions traveling at 25 MPH anticipating the turn, lifted my foot off of the accelerator. The car went straight. I informed state farm insurance, volunteering approval to examine the on board computer. I also contacted GM corporation. State farm claim no. [redacted]. GM contact [redacted]
Tl contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette. While driving at speeds of 67 MPH, the left rear suspension failed causing the vehicle to veer off of the road and crash into a telephone pole. The contact suffered major injuries consisting of a herniated disc and severe headaches. The police arrived and a police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 5,125 and the current mileage was 5,125.
The Body Control Module has failed and there are no replacement parts available except used parts. The BCM is hard coded with the VIN. If you use a BCM from another car, certain safety systems are deactivated such as the air bags. The BCM is central to the electronic architecture so all other systems are at risk. The unit can be responsible for the car not starting, the headlights not working, the power windows and door locks failing, or in my case the active suspension not functioning. Since BCM's are widely used, this is a looming major safety issue for the nation because GM quit making new ones, no one else makes these parts, no one can repair the units. I know a number of C6 Corvette owners are using used parts which deactivates the air bags and the security system.
Tl contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette. The vehicle has Goodyear Eagle tires. Upon inspection of the tires, the contact noticed that the two front tires had excessive tread wear, as well as several bulges on the interior sidewall. The dealer refused to inspect the tires in order to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer did not provide any assistance. The contact still has possession of the tires. The failure and current mileages were 12,033. Updated 08/04/08. Updated 08/05/08
Changing lanes on a busy avenue at lunch time going about 30mpg car lost control from the back and ended hitting a electrical post. After taking to shop and being repaired which took over 6 months I returned to the shop due to a noise in the right rear where the accident occurred and found that the rear axle was broken. It was decided that this was the cause of the accident.
