General motors (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Chevrolet corvette coupe vehicles, manufactured from January 24, 2011, through September 1, 2011, for failing to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard number 206, "door locks and door retention components".
Remedy: GM will notify owners and dealers will replace both rear hatch hinges free of charge. The safety recall began on October 14, 2011. Owners May contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438.

Same fuel smell issue as what GM kinda covered with Bulletin #[redacted] However that is a 10 year / 120,000 miles limit. I'm under the miles but over on time. Just purchased the vehicle (was told "there are no recalls" because they were allow to all it a "Special Warranty Adjustment". Of course the previous owner didn't get this addressed ... nor WOULD they if the smell started later. So ... still a fire hazard ... even the fix offered is replacing plastic parts with same plastic parts and crossing fingers. Dealers are quoting over 16 hours ALONE for a fix pushing costs to over $3000. And this can reoccur in the future when that plastic also fails. Metal fittings for fuel ... seems like a better choice costing only a few dollars more. Please do something for us chumps that bought the unfixed cars used. At least require dealer to fully inform buyers. …
My entire garage is filled with gas fumes after I filled my car up to full yesterday. I drive my car once every 2 weeks and this is filling my garage with fumes. There are no visible leaks, there is a technical service bulletin regarding a gas tank issue that expired. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? UNKNOWN, the vehicle is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I could smell gas fumes from inside my garage door. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? It will be tomorrow. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not yet. Haven't got that far. …
Transmission & drivetrain
My husband was pumping gas at a gas station on an interstate access road. Car was not running and was locked. He had been at the pump for about 5 minutes and then walked into the store for something to drink. All of a sudden I heard people yelling and turned to look and then saw my husband's unmanned car slowly rolling out of the gas station into the access road during rush hour. A couple of individuals tried to stop the car but it was locked and my husband had the keys in his pocket. Several vehicles swerved to miss the car but it eventually hit an individual's vehicle in the center lane of the access road causing damage to both vehicles.
While driving I would hear rattling noises coming from under the vehicle. I took it to a repair facility and it was discovered that a propeller shaft bolt inside the torque tube assembly came lose and damaged the bearing inside the torque tube. It is my understanding that this could have caused the transmission to freeze/fail, lose control and cause an accident. I had to have the entire torque tube assembly removed and replaced. This occurred one week after the expiration of GM's five year drivetrain warranty.
Air bags
Air bag light in dashboard seemingly randomly turns on and off while driving and is usually on indicating an issue with the air bag system. To begin with the light was only intermittently on but over time it has reversed and now the light only turns off intermittently.
The air bag light on the dashboard appears during vehicle acceleration, while in motion, indicating that the air bag system is no longer functioning. To add insult to injury, I brought the vehicle to gordon Chevrolet (address below) for service. The dealer changed the front impact sensors of the vehicle at my cost. Upon receiving the vehicle back, it immediately reported that the airbag system was still not functioning correctly (air bag light). To this date the dealer refuses to acknowledge the issue, would not refund me for misdiagnoses and will not return my phone calls regarding a remedy to the issue.
