My girlfriend and I were driving down the interstate early one morning. There was no rain or bad road conditions and prays god hardly any traffic at all. One minute everything was fine and within a split second there was a loud thud below our feet. My girlfriend lost control of the vehicle and we were thrown across the middle of the interstate and slammed into the guard cables which at that point in time the air bags deployed. The guard cables catapulted us back across the interstate were we was finally able to get the car stopped. The first question out of the arkansas state troopers and the local county officers mouths to us was,"what happened to your whole driver side wheel?". The trooper went on to explain that this was obviously not a "blowout" due to the fact there was absolutely no trash on the road or off the road the road they would be consistent with a blow out. …

Chevy Cobalt 2009. Two incidents involving the same model but different cars. Both rented from enterprise. Don't know what category to put the complaint in. Steering? Braking? Or something else? This model handles terribly on wet pavement. Doesn't brake well on wet pavement, and tires spin when starting from a stopped position. Incident 1. Changing lanes on i270 md. Going about 50 MPH. And slowed down to move one lane to the right. Going from a less used wetter lane to lane to the right, which wasn't quite as wet. Car spun out twice and hit the jersey wall twice. Then I was able to stop the car. Fairly heavy traffic, and no other vehicles involved, thank god. State police were on the shoulder for traffic going in the other direction across from me but did not come to the car. Incident 2. Rented another of the same model. Whenever the street was wet, the car did not brake well. …

I began to smell gas after exiting the vehicle. I traced the smell to an apparent leak coming from the top of the tank where the lines from the fuel filter are routed over the top of the tank. I discovered the recall for fuel pump plastic part failures in warm weather states, also 2009 Cobalt, but, georgia is not listed (I'll tell you it is a warm weather state). Also, in regards to another individual's complaint NHTSA id number: 10668977, I discovered my TPMS were backwards about three years ago when I had an unexpected flat. The low pressure indicated by the TPMS directed me to the wrong tire. One of the TPMS stopped working within days of driving the car off the lot. …

While in motion the service air bag light come on and goes off randomly. A malfunction in the sensor or other area has lead to premature air bag deployment in other's vehicles. Airbags are a safety feature that give piece of mind that I currently do not have. This is the car we are considering handing down to our teenage son but am concerned with this warming that will not go away. The low tire pressure light randomly comes on as well, even when tires have adequate air.

Takata recall: my air bag sign probably in the beginning of January had appeared, and obviously they have not been working. I had gotten into an accident on January 31st and they did not deploy. I am not positive if this is a part of the recall situation, but it happened out of no where, I just turned my car on one day and it stopped working. Also in the accident my car was sitting at a red light and hit between the range of 35-40 MPH

On November 13th I felt something wrong when driving home. I stopped at sam's club and asked them to check the tire pressure. They stated it was at 40-42. The attendant let the air out to 29. He said the tires looked OK and suggested have the alignment checking. While on the freeway home, the tread separated from the tire. I thought I had hit something, pulled over and kicked each tire for damage (it was dark). There was air in all tires so I decided to go the last 5 miles home. Immediately driving a few feet I realized something was wrong. I called a tow and the operator said the tread separated. We had the car dropped off at garrett motors. The next morning we told them what happened. Later they called saying it would not be covered because the tire was underinflated and that was why it became separated. …
