What owners report

As I was driving, my car decided to just turn off. All of the electronics turned off and I lost ignition. Moments later, while I was still rolling, the car turned back on. This issue has happened multiple times but nothing super serios ever happened and i was able to maintain control of the vehicle every time. Since it is a manual transmission, I was able to stay in gear and continue on. The issue with the steering came after the car turned back on. The "SERVICE POWER STEERING, DRIVE WITH CARE" message came across my screen. I used my scanner to see what the codes are, and it have me a "Power Steering Control Module" C0800-03 code, as well as a "Keyless Entry" U0140, a "Parking Assist Module" U0420 code. I know this was a know issue with the 2014 through 2016's but my 2017 is experiencing the same issue as the previous years it seems. …

My power steering has a tendency to fail during operation of the vehicle. I have had my power steering cease to function, and become extremely difficult to control the vehicle at speed. Luckily I was on the highway, and able to safely maneuver the vehicle to the side of the highway. I shut the vehicle off and turned it on to see if the power steering would return. On average it takes about 5 cycles for it to return to normal. In the last 6 months, I've had my steering cease functioning about 5 times. The first two times didn't concern me as much because I thought it was random. Only until my steering died 3 times in the span of 2 hours on 20may19, did I suspect this was a serious issue. Apparently GM sent out a TSB on 2014-2016my Chevrolet ss models, but my 2017my was not included yet my vehicle is having the same exact failure according to the TSB for the other my. …

A few days ago I was heading home from work and sport mode automatically turned on and the "service power steering" warning came on. Then the steering wheel stiffened up 2 times for a few seconds while I was driving. I looked into it and there was a recall before I purchased the vehicle and it was repaired also. But it is the same problem. I contacted the dealer ship but they said there's no warranty on recalls. I did purchase the car from a used car dealership and still paying it. Car still isn't running and seems like an expensive repair.

While turning onto my street Friday (4/12) night, my power steering stopped functioning without warning and my car said "service power steering." I was probably moving less than 25mph and luckily there was no traffic, but I came close to hitting other parked cars. With great difficulty, I was able to get it parked well enough out of the path of traffic. I turned the car on Saturday and it seemed fine, but I didn't drive it again until today (4/15) when I dropped it off at the dealership. It drove without problem to the dealer. The dealer said the code was for a steering torque sensor. The dealer also said I had already had the recall for this issue performed (17V382000) which was for this exact issue and code. It appears that GM's fix for this recall is not working. …
