Tl* the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche equipped with Goodyear wrangler tires, size: p265/70/r17 (na). While the vehicle was being serviced by an independent mechanic, it was observed that all four tires had blisters and the tread was separated. The tires were replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage of the vehicle and tires was 44,000. Updated 10/26/2017
I've had a problem with wheel corrosion. I reported this to GM in November 2013. They wouldn't do anything about it. On April 24, while traveling out of state, my wheel sensor went off indicating low tire pressure. I pulled into a garage. They informed me the problem was that the wheel was corroding around the valve stem, and that they could not repair the wheel. Fortunately this did not occur at high speed.
Vehicle was on the highway when a small vibration started and transition to a violent shaking. A temporary loss of directional control occurred until I was able to coast to a slower speed and pull off the highway. I discovered the tread had separated from the rear driver's side tire and wrapped itself around the axel and rotor.
Tire monitor system indicated that tires were low. Took them to shopand they stated that I should take back to location of purchase because tires had splits. Tookto purchase location and they found cracks in tires but stated they look like impact damage. I took to 2 additional shops andboth stated that tread was peelingfrom tires and advised not to drive. Took it back to purchase place and again they would not resolve. Bought new tires and have old ones at home. Tires 14 mths old and have cracks all around tire. 2 tires dot #'s:v4pr mtr2705 and v4pr 3mtr3805. Will have other 2 tires checked Thursday.
4"Takata recall" the contact owns a 2004 Chevy Avalanche with a set of capitol precision trac ll tires on it. While pulling off in the vehicle and driving around 35 MPH you could feel the back end shaking and wobbling like the lug nuts were loose. The vehicle was pulled off the road to investigate the shaking issue where was found that the tires tread was separating making humps and waves in the tread. This happened on the highway at 92,207 miles on vehicle and 7, 319 miles on 265/70r17 capitol precision trac ll tires. The vehicle was parked for a few days until getting tires to replace the capitol tires but once the vehicle started moving to take it to the shop to replace the tires the front had started to shake just like the back at 92,221 miles on the vehicle but not as much. …
While driving my 2004 chev, Avalanche down a dirt road I experienced a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. As I slowed down the sound got louder and gave a snap sound. I was alble to keep the vehicle on the road, but later learned I was experiencing a cracked alinium rim. We have called the dealer ship as the truck has 17,500 miles on the rim. They need to inspect the old rim to make sure we did not damage it in any way. Why would I ? It is so hard to change a tire on the avalance, not to mention I could have been killed. If the tire passes inspection then we might have a new rim.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 70 MPH the passenger side rear tire had tread separation without warning causing a crash. The vehicle was totaled and was towed to the dealer where it remains. The insurance agency was alerted and determined the tire delaminated. A police report was filed. The tire is a Goodyear wrangler hp p26570r17.
2003 Chevrolet Avalanche with "z66" package spare tire is a 16 inch tire. The vehicle is equipped with 17 inch tires. Sales literature indicates that the "z66" package upgrades all wheels 17 inch wheels. Despite manufacture and dealers claims the vehicle handling is very erratic with 16 inch spare installed. Dealer stated spare is for temporary use only. This is no consolation when the next exit on the highway is 40+ miles away. Manufacture and dealer both state that the TSB released resolves this issue. However, consumers are not provided TSB's in the show room. Problem was discovered when passenger side rear tire went flat. While repairing flat tire it was discovered that the original tire was out of round and could not be balanced even with over 5 oz of weight on tire. Replaced tire with brand new tire which required 3.5 oz weight to balance indicating bad rim. …
