Car would not shift from reverse to the park position. The car's shift cable had broken leaving the car in an unsafe reverse position. Turned off the car, set the parking brake and called to have the car towed to a repair shop. The repair shop replaced the shifter cable and stated this is a common problem with this GM platform, to the point the shop keeps the replacement cables in stock. This is a safety issue and I have read that GM has a recall out for 2014 shifter cables experiencing the same problem.

On June 12, 2006 I was leaving my work place with both of my children. I was in the process of strapping my daughter's seat belt on her (age 5) when my 2 year old son jumped up into the driver seat and pulled the vehicle out of park. The car immediately started to roll backwards, as it was parked on a gradual slope. I was trapped behind the left side passenger door until the car made a slight turn and I was able to get out from behind the door. With the door still open the car then made a hard right turn and the passenger door opened where my daughter was sitting caught the tree and bounced back forward approximately 10 feet where it came to rest. I ran down to the car got my son out of the driver seat and pulled the keys straight out of the ignition. The motor of the car was not running at the time either. …

I plugged my cell phone into the car charger in the front console. When I returned to the car after about 15 minutes, it was filled with smoke that was coming out of the car charger. I immediately unplugged the charger. I tried to start the car and it was completely dead. After examining the fuses, I noticed that the one for the charger as well as the one for the interior lights was completely melted. After further research it was discovered that the wiring harness under the dash was completely melted - had I not gone out when I did, the car probably would have caught fire. This should never have happened - there should be safety features int he vehicle to cut the power to the charger immediately if there is a short. It was towed to the dealer last night. They are claiming this is not covered by warranty though this is obviously a problem with the Rendezvous. …

It feels like the transmission is going out but only sometimes. On occasion it will be driving fine then I go to pull off from a stop and it just wont really go like maybe skips 1st gear or at least part of it. It's crazy and dangerous. I do not believe it to be the transmission. Only happens from complete stop, sometimes. Buick Rendezvous 05

I was driving my vehicle on the freeway going 70 miles per hour and all the sudden my vehicle had pretty much came to a complete stop and if I hadn't had my seatbelt on, I probably would have went through the windshield.

I had a transmission repair at an ammco transmission outlet. As a result of the repair my instrument cluster was not working the first day the car was declared repaired. I left the car with the repairer who told me a second transmission would be installed. I was told approximately ten days later my car was repaired. When the car was picked up a second the time the problem was not resolved. I was told it needed to time for the computer to reset itself. That never happened since I found out later that the computer was in default mode and was not communicating with the transmission. Aamco pretended to tell me my car was safe to drive throughout this ordeal. The same night I received the car back my exterior lights went when my car glitched again. I almost hit the side of the mountain because there was total darkness. My complaint is that there is no oversight of secondary repair shops. …
