What owners report

At 65 miles per hour on a highway in rich hour traffic my vehicle stalls out and displays 2 lights 1."reduced engine power" "service traction control system" or something to that effect. The car will not start for 3-5 minutes. Then restarts and continues to do the same thing another 5-7 times before I was able to get to a safe location. When hooked up to a code reader the code that displayed was co240 ABS powertrain control module.. This is extremely dangerous.

This SUV was purchased at the end of August 2016 and once in the car and driving down the road we realized the vehicle power steering was hard to turn and the brakes were going all the way down. We also had a car accident, because it was very hard to turn and once in the parking space the brakes went completely out and when trying to stop the SUV would not stop and we hit a parked car with the lady in the car on 9/11/2016. Went on line and noticed recalls for power steering and cloth seats on some models for air bags. Spoke with GMC and informed power steering recall and would like SUV checked. Called tow truck to take vehicle to GMC. When we got there the service department request we try to purchase a new car instead of getting the vehicle fixed. The next day we were notified the truck was not worth repairing the damages were over 1,000 for power steering and brakes. …

Dt*: the contact stated that the vehicle's ABS system failed on 07/15/06 resulting in a collision. The vehicle was traveling at 25 MPH when traffic forced emergency braking causing the vehicle to nose dive but continued to roll forward. The wheels did not lock up and the ABS system did not engage. There was no warning prior to the failure which occurred on dry and flat road conditions. The contact expressed that during the incident it felt as if the hydraulic brakes were not grabbing, and conceived that the vehicle brake failure May be due fading caused by heat. The vehicle is equipped with 4-wheel antilock and 4 wheel disc brakes. The manufacturer was contacted on 07/17/06 who determined that the vehicle needed to be inspected by a technician and could only be scheduled for a later date. …

Trac light would come on and off a few times. Eventually the trac off, and ABS light stay on. It occurs at random moments while stationary and in motion. Disabling the traction control. This is hazardous when it is on and in motion with not favorable weather ie rain or snow. I have had this happen to me, driving in the rain with the ABS disabled, I had to apply my brakes hard to avoid rear ending the car in front of me who had hit their brakes to avoid an accident as well. I have replaced hub assembly, rotors brakes, brake calipers, brake hoses the whole nine yards. Was told by one mechanic that when the traction system lights are on and ABS is disengaged this causes higher wear and tear on the rotors and brake pads. Was also told that the ABS wiring harness is too short, so it gets pulled when making turns. …

2004 Rendezvous · 290,000 miles · Aug 2016

Multiple times the vehicle has stalled randomly while being driven. This has happened so many times I've lost count (at least 20). This happens at various speeds (from 0 MPH to 70 MPH). The entire electrical system shuts down when the vehicle stalls causing the steering and brakes to be less effective. This could easily result in an accident. The vehicle has been taken to 2 different Buick dealers for diagnostic and repair. The dealerships have not been able to fix the problem. The ignition switch and the ignition relay have both been replaced and all the electrical contacts have been cleaned and checked. These repairs have not fixed the vehicle. I've called Buick customer service and they refuse to do anything further without additional charge to the owner. The owner will not be making further repairs.
