What owners report

I am leasing a 2025 BMW X7 vin number ([redacted]) through BMW Financial Services. The vehicle has had an active federal safety recall since approximately February 2024, and as of today, the manufacturer has not provided a remedy to address the issue. The recall is listed on the NHTSA website but remains unresolved for over 17 months, despite my attempts to obtain information and updates from both the dealership and BMW directly. I believe this is a violation of my consumer rights under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act and breach of warranty, as the vehicle has a known safety defect that the manufacturer has failed to repair within a reasonable time. I am requesting assistance in: 1.Reaching a resolution with BMW to either terminate the lease without penalty, or 2.Compelling the manufacturer to provide an immediate remedy. …

We have had 2 incidents where the warning light illuminated then went away. When the defect was disclosed, BMW said that there was no fix. Because the defect relates to personal safety, we can no longer drive the vehicle, but BMW refuses to pay for a rental car, insisting that the car can be driven despite the danger of the brakes going out, and will not repurchase the vehicle under the Song-Beverly (Lemon Law) Act. It has been over 3 months that the vehicle has been unable to be used and there still is no fix, and considering the fact that this is a high end vehicle, and how BMW has responded, we are not willing to chance continuing to own this vehicle.

On June 29th, 2023 at approximately 8:45 AM we were pulling into a parking space slowly tapping the brakes to slow and stop the vehicle. About 2/3 of the way into the parking stall around 3 or 4 feet from the curb, the vehicle actually accelerated while pressing the brake jumping the curb. We pressed on the brakes again and the car accelerated even faster crossing the sidewalk crashing into a building. We believe the brakes caused the SUA (Sudden Unintended Acceleration) accelerating the vehicle twice and the vehicle failed to apply the brakes. We believe this would've been caused by a computer error on the vehicle. We also believe the vehicle to initiate the two safety systems failed, Crash Imminent Braking & Dynamic Brake Support thus being able to avoid the accident. To the best of our knowledge, no warnings or alerts were displayed on the vehicle before the crash. …
