The brake by wire system failed, and another component caused the vehicle to accelerate when I hit the brake pedal. I didn't have any proof on the last complaint, but I have it now. This brake failure caused me to rear end someone, which caused a multiple vehicle accident. The dealership I took it to was aware that I was having electrical issues with the car, but they said they couldn't do anything about it because they couldn't find any fault codes. I even sent them a video of it as well. I also believe this car was involved in a prior accident as well by one of the previous owners and fixed by one of them under the table, because the front bumper shock absorber plate broke in half, and had writing on it as well that looked like something a repair shop would do. This car is unsafe.
The contact owns a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut off. During the failure, the check engine and auto stop/start warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that an unknown relay needed to be replaced. No further information was available. The contact indicated that the vehicle had been serviced for the failure on multiple occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.
Hello, I was driving in the highway at highway speed and my engine shutdown with any sort of warning. I almost caused a huge accident. After I took it to the Alfa Romeo dealer, I had to replace the fuel pump according to the dealer, which is a common problem. I think Alfa Romeo should do a recall on the fuel pump. I also, scratched my car due to this incident avoiding a bigger accident. This car needs to be recalled for fuel pump repairs for all the car with the old bad fuel pump design. Thank you
On August 18, 2022, I was driving the vehicle at a speed of approximately 45 mph when the vehicle motor suddenly and without any prior warning completely shut down. Several warning lights appeared immediately but none prior to the shutdown. I was driving in moderately heavy traffic and had to coast to a spot off the shoulder of the road. This was a dangerous situation and if I had been in heavier higher speed traffic, this would have been a very risky safety situation since I had no power whatsoever to control the vehicle movement. The vehicle would not restart and had to be towed to a repair shop. The problem was with the Fuel Pump Control Module which had to be replaced along with replacing the fuel pump. The manufacturer had previously issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) concerning this but had not issued a recall. I was unaware of the TSB. …
Engine recently began making a loud ticking sound, that everyone who heard it asked, "What's wrong with your car?" I purchased the vehicle new 5.5 years ago and it presently has 38,475 miles on it. The dealer determined the noise was due to a loose oil pump bolt under the timing cover. It was a 10.5 hour repair to remove a bolt and reapply lock-tite to it and then reinstall. Had the repair not been performed the bolt could have vibrated all the way out and caused internal damage to the engine, which I believe is a safety issue. The repair cost was $1,813.68. Per the dealer this was the first Giulia model that they had to service for this issue, but they had serviced several Stelvio models that were newer but shared the same engine. In today's automotive market such repairs should not be necessary on a vehicle with low mileage. …
When I'm driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly have a notification stating 'Service Electronic Throttle Control' and started to lose power, no matter howbjard the pedal was being depressed, it's notbgiving enough power out and start dropping speed. That drop me almost hit the vehicle behind me and inposing a serious risk because I'm on the highway. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the dealer mentioend it might be a fuel pump problem. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, it start almodt everytime suddenly from nowhere. Usually it will be ok after a few restart, but this t.ime it's persistent
My Alfa Romeo only has 29,000 miles on it. It randomly dies on you and does not start. Might happen while you drive with the start/stop and also when you try to turn on the car. When speaking to an Alfa Romeo representative, they inform you that to fix it's about $600 or higher and they are also aware that is a common problems with their cars. The representative informed me that to turn it back on, I have to disconnect the a wire on top of the battery. I'm not a mechanic and should not have to work with the electrical system of the car. After reconnecting that wire, there's the electric stability control light that turns on and the steering wheel assist light turns on. It's crazy that this is a know issue with these cars and the dealers try everything they can to charge you for that repair. Which makes the car completely unsafe.
Vehicle completely lost power and quite running in the middle of the desert in Arizona. This relates to Saftey Recall 93c. I had to have the car towed and repaired in Scottsdale, AZ. I have been told that this repair (which was expensive) might not remedy the problem and it could reoccur. It's been over six months since the recall was issued and yet no remedy is available and I have not received reimbursement for the repairs I had to have done to get my vehicle running. I think six months is enough time given that I cannot trust the reliability of my vehicle due to this serious problem. When a vehicle just "turns off" in the middle of the freeway it poses a huge safety risk both to the occupants and to other drivers in the area. So my complaint is that it's taking far too long for Stellates to produce parts to remedy this problem.
the vehicle has read off warnings seconds from simply stopping and cutting off in traffic. this has happened at least two times now. it may say full throttle service and flash lights before simply slowing down and the check engine light flashing while on the highway unable to speed up no matter how far down on the gas pedal I push. has been taken to dealer several times. problems started soon after purchasing vehicle. On 3/1/2026 while leaving church service, my family and I were on a major highway with the speed limit at 65 mph. The vehicle just slowed down without giving any power and could not get it up to the speed to continue with traffic. This vehicle could put me and my family at risk for a possible dangerous situation.
This has been an issue slowly getting worse over the last few months and escalated this week. June 20th, 2025 my car has literary died over (4) times during traffic and I had to try and stay calm while using a code reader to clear the codes to get the engine to start. Very scary, I have a 2017 Giulia Ti that just hit 100k miles. Even took it to the dealership and they couldn't explain it. Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicles equipped with GME 280HP engines and All Wheel Drive ("AWD"). The brake fluid line may contact a coolant hose clamp, possibly causing brake fluid to leak onto the exhaust.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a bracket on the brake fluid line to prevent contact with the coolant hose clamp. If damage is found on the brake line, it will be replaced, free of charge.
