What 2025 Volvo EX30 owners say
Electrical system
On July 28, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., I was stopped in my 2025 Volvo EX30 at the intersection of Laurel Avenue and Mount Pleasant Avenue in Livingston, New Jersey. When the light turned green, I applied the accelerator normally. The vehicle unexpectedly surged/lurched forward and struck another vehicle. After the accident, the tow-truck operator reported that the Volvo lurched forward three or four additional times while he was attempting to load it onto the truck. He reported that this behavior did not occur while unloading it in reverse. Volvo subsequently inspected the vehicle and retrieved electronic data. Volvo states that the data showed full accelerator-pedal input and that the vehicle operated as designed, but it has not provided me with the underlying data, technical report, extraction records, or supporting documentation. …
I am filing this complaint regarding NHTSA Recall 26V103 (Manufacturer Recall R10362) for my 2025 Volvo EX30, VIN [redacted] . The recall was issued February 18, 2026 for a fire, overheating, and smoke safety risk due to potential overheating of the High-Voltage battery cell. The remedy requires battery module inspection and replacement, however Volvo has acknowledged that no replacement parts are available and has provided no estimated timeline for repair. I have not received any repair. No parts have been installed. No remedy has been performed on my vehicle. Despite this, my dealer marked recall R10362 as Closed on or around April 30, 2026 without performing any repair. When I contacted Volvo Cars customer care directly, they confirmed verbally that the recall remains open for my vehicle and that parts are still unavailable. …
Driver assistance
I was checking EV charging locations on my Pixel 10a while the EX30 was driving in Pilot Assist mode. I was hand-free. The car was chirping at me to do something, I have [redacted] while cars zoomed past at 80 mph or more (just outside of [redacted]). Vehicles were depertely swerving, honking, I was yelling at the car to move... it remained tied to the ground. After what felt like an eternity (you'll need to check the car black box), I realized my phone needed to be placed back on the middle console to get a 'key read'. At least 20 cars swerved, slammed on their brakes, and came within inches of smashing the car (with my wife), we thought we were dead. I take full responsibility for unsafely using my phone and driving without two hands on the wheel. But this shouldn't cause the vehicle to come to a DEAD STOP, IN THE MIDDLE OF A FREEWAY! The car should use words, not beeps. …
I've owned the EX30 for approximately 3 months. During that time, there have been approx. 5 incidents where after backing the car from a parking spot and switching to drive mode, the entire navigation screen goes blank and the screen displays the car as being in reverse mode. After being advised by Red Bank Volvo, NJ that this likely would be rectified during a major software update, I installed 2 major updates without a resolution to this problem - shortly after the 2nd update, I experienced the issue again. On 11/7/25 I brought the car to service and was told there were no error codes and software was up-to-date so they could do nothing. I called Volvo Customer Service to report the issue, and they advised bringing the car back to service, where a remote diagnostic assessment could be performed with corporate service. I was not advised by Red Bank Volvo that this was an option.
