the airbag light indicator is on and the car is 2009 which is more than 10 years old however it is under 120k miles original warranty as it is currently at 97k miles and I have contacted Volkswagen and nothing they could do or helped me. Dealerships want to charge me diagnostic fees which was ridiculous. the dealership scanned the code but did not went further without the additional fee.
Since there has been ongoing investigation on airbags, thought to report the issue related to this. For some reason, the airbag yellow warning light came up for no reason on my dashboard. It came up months ago and never has'nt gone away. Was wondering this is part of the airbag recall debate that has been reported in the media
Tl* the contact owned a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving 30 MPH, the ABS warning indicator illuminated as the brake pedal was depressed. The contact's vehicle did not stop and crashed into another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact to call her insurance company. The manufacturer opened case number: 180215369. The vehicle was towed and deemed a total loss. The dealer was not contacted. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control) after the crash, which could have contributed to the brake failure. The failure mileage was 163,129. Engine was placed with a remanufactured engine in November 2014 due to original engine failure. …
Tl* the contact owned a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving at approximately 45 MPH and applying the brake pedal, the ABS, the stability, and the brake warning lights illuminated. In addition, there was a loud abnormal noise and the vehicle spun out of control. The vehicle flipped three times and crashed into a bush. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. The contact did not disclose if a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear passenger axle was fractured. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
" Takata recall" ? My husband was going to work one day and a deer came out of nowhere and hit him. He was going about 30 MPH and was getting ready to turn into work. When the deer hit him, the drivers side air bag(curtain I think they call it) and drivers rear air bag deployed but not the airbag directly in front front of him. The side airbag hit him so hard that the airbag material left a mark on the left side of his neck.(it looked like a burlap/canvas material) my husband suffered a concussion and now has pcs and still is having problems because of the airbag . The car is currently not recall for the airbag but should be. His car was totaled
Tl* Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving approximately 25 MPH, the brakes locked up and caused the contact's vehicle to crash into the preceding vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. Two weeks after the failure, the contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The failure mileage was 128,792.
I was in a side impact crash with the other vehicle going approximately 60 MPH. I was hit on the drivers side and none of the airbags deployed. After the vehicle was towed, my insurance adjuster opened the drivers side door to assess the damage and the airbag then deployed. My insurance adjuster stated that the airbag should have deployed and it May have helped with the impact.
My car was involved in a mva and the airbags did not deploy, although the censors should have deployed the airbag. Per my insurance carrier investigator it was confirmed that the airbags should have deployed.
Our car is driven by 2 drivers- I am 5 feet tall, my husband is 6'1". The car seat gets moved back and forth a lot as we both drive the car daily. In late November my husband moved the seat all the way back and it made a cracking noise. We later noticed the air bag light was on. He found the broken wire under the seat and repaired it, but the light was still on. A call to the dealership revealed they knew about the issue and the fix was to "not move the seat so much". The next week- before we had a chance to take the car in to get the light cleared- the car was involved in a collision. I rear ended a car in slow-and-go traffic when she switched lanes in front of me while I was accelerating. $15,000 in damage was done to the car but the air bags did not go off. A witness that stopped to help had to pry the door open to get me out. …
