On August 31, 2026, while driving my 2025 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport on the highway, multiple warning lights illuminated and the vehicle stopped operating while I was in traffic. The sudden loss of vehicle operation created a serious risk of a collision and placed me and other motorists in danger. This vehicle has experienced repeated problems including rough operation, hesitation/loss of acceleration, warning lights, engine/misfire-related faults, and powertrain concerns. The vehicle has previously been presented to Volkswagen dealerships for diagnosis and repair, but the problems have continued. On the date of this incident, the vehicle again displayed three warning lights and then became inoperable while being driven on the highway. I am now afraid to operate the vehicle because I do not know when it may lose power or stop again. …
There's a chemical smell entering the cabin of my vehicle from the engine ever since my car was serviced at the dealership. I've had headaches burning, watering eyes, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, eye twitching, and generally unwell. My daughter has had a cough and they refused to acknowledge any issue. They changed the filter and clean the vents and they're saying nothing's wrong. There's been multiple - alert since I bought the vehicle in April with them being the lane assist, throwing code all the time while I'm driving in any conditions the front assist as well and the brakes needing some plug that was missing from it and now a light sensor is not working as well and the dealership isn't being any help. I escalated it to a corporate and they're saying there's nothing they can do. …
The contact owns a 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop, an overheating message was displayed, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle entered LIMP Mode and failed to exceed 3 MPH. The contact was able to pull into a parking lot at a slow speed and became aware of an abnormal burning odor. The contact added coolant to the coolant reservoir, and the vehicle operated as intended. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving 35 MPH, and the driver drove cross several lanes of traffic to pull over to the side of the road. The check engine warning light was illuminated after the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the overheating message was erroneous, and that a software update was needed. The vehicle was repaired. …
The contact owns a 2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH with the cruise control activated, the ADAS system misread the highway speed limit, and the vehicle suddenly decelerated. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was driven at various speeds with the cruise control activated; however, whenever the vehicle detected a traffic sign, the vehicle adjusted to the sign image; however, while school was not in session, the ADAS system adjusted the cruise control to the speed limit on the road sign. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed with software system failure. The vehicle was repaired, and the software was reset; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,640.
Multiple issues since purchasing the vehicle in 01/2023. - First evening in the driveway all of the windows went down. The vehicle was not running. This has happened two other times. - I went out to me vehicle one day and the back tailgate had opened on its own. - One day I went out to the vehicle to put something in the back. Opened the hatch and the vehicle started "bucking" and would not stop. This lasted approximately 5 minutes. - Multiple times the vehicle will make a loud POP sound (sounds like a gunshot) and then I lose all media volume. Sometimes it will come back on if I park the car and restart it, but not always. - There was an incident when the car sounded like someone was changing radio stations. It was very loud and continued even when I turned the radio off. The dealership was able to duplicate this and found an electrical connection that was not secure. …
My car cuts off while driving. For instance, I was at a red light, in the left turning lane, and the light turned green. I pressed the gas and it started going and then just cut off. Luckily there was no car behind me. However, I was halfway in the intersection as cars were coming towards me. I had my 3 year old in the car. This is very dangerous. This is just one incident. When backing out of a parking spot, I will get half way out of the spot and it cuts off. I've taken it to the dealership, but they won't help since they can't duplicate it. I reached out to Volkswagon on Twitter and all they did was have me take it to the dealership again. I received the same, non-concerned, attitude. Nothing has been done. I bought this car brand new. Also, the screen cuts off randomly and has to restart.
Initially, my Atlas would not auto-start with the key fab. When I returned to my vehicle, the lights flashed, it gave a battery warning, then I was able to start the vehicle. However, several lights on the dashboard cycled through, radio/center console was non-responsive, and I could not get my car to park. Eventually, I had to use the emergency break to park it. We jumped the vehicle and it did start again. However, very shortly thereafter it lit on fire and there were visible flames under the hood. We called the fire department, put the fire out with water and an extinguisher. Then we had the vehicle towed to the dealership. Its been more than 2 months since this incident and no work has been started. Volkswagen corporate sent an engineer out to inspect my car (confirmed by the dealership that they did visit) but still no work has begun. …
