I was sitting at a red light when my 2007 Toyota Yaris was rammed from behind in a rear end collision. I sustained several injuries. My air bag didn't deploy, but the air bag light came on. In addition, the seatbelts didn't work either. I suffered a comminuted fracture to my left distal clavicle, fractured l1 transverse process, and I'm having surgery to fix the problems that were caused from my face hitting the steering wheel. This happened on oct 20, 2015 and I just found out this is a common problem with 2007 Toyota Yaris'. I can provide addition information is needed.

The driver seat belt does not retract. When buckled up, this is really hard (and it takes at least 30 seconds) to unfasten the driver seat belt. I'm scared to be trapped inside in case of an accident. It happens all the time, no matter where I drive, if the car is in motion or not. I noticed the problem 1 year ago. When looking on internet, I see this is a really common problem.

Good afternoon I have a 2007 Toyota Yaris with around 108,000 miles. I made an appt with a local dealer to go thru 3 recalls in my car and additionally to check on my rear-driver seatbelt which is not retracting (it failed on 6-26-16) . I have read various forums stating that various owners of my model car have had the same issue. The dealer finished the 3 recalled issues. The issue with the rear seatbelt was related to a ball bearing in the system that was not allowing for the seatbelt to recoil. The dealer wanted around $350 to fix the issue. I think this is a safety issue the car is not new but an item that is needed for safety should not go bad within a fairly long timeline, it should at least outlast the car. I have read various forums with people complaining on this same problem. How can this not be a problem related to quality and safety of the equipment Toyota sells? …
