I was rear ended when I was braking hard to avoid hitting a dog in the street (where I live you can be sued for running over/injuring a dog). My car speed was about 10 mph give or take, and I was rear ended by a distracted driver (who admitted to using antidepressants on a daily basis) who I believe was going at least 45 mph. My car was pushed forward at least 6 ft and no airbags were deployed. I thought I died because I saw a flash of bright light enveloping my entire vision while my chest and forehead were whipped forward harshly and almost touched my steering wheel. My whiplash injuries are moderately severe and have actually put a few discs along my entire spine and cervical area off-center, continuing to cause extreme back/neck pain and discomfort. I have sharp intermittent pain in my head as well. …
The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that there would be a sudden loss of power steering functionality and just as sudden, the power steering function would return. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) and the Air Bag Malfunction warning lights were illuminated. The starter had suddenly failed due to a loss of battery power. The contact purchased a jump box to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the key fob failed to unlock the doors, causing the contact to have to manually open the doors with the keys. The windows could not be controlled from the control panel near the driver's seat. Each window could only be controlled by the window switch on the door where the window was located. The TPMS warning light as illuminated, despite the tire pressure being at the correct levels. …
On [redacted], I was involved in an accident in my Toyota Camry while the vehicle was stopped on the freeway [redacted]. The car suffered an impact at approximately 20 MPH or less. My friend [redacted] was driving with my permission while I was a passenger, and our two dogs were also in the vehicle. We were rear-ended by another driver, which pushed us into the vehicle in front of us, causing both rear and front impacts. The vehicle was totaled. During the collision, the airbags did not deploy. Immediately after the accident, the vehicle displayed an "SRS Airbag Malfunction - Visit Your Dealer" warning message. I suffered whiplash and nerve-related injuries. I am concerned the airbag/SRS system did not operate properly and may have failed during the accident, potentially increasing the severity of injuries. I am requesting an investigation into the failure of the SRS/airbag system.

The dealer determined that the driver's side air bag system had a short circuit, causing the failure. The contact was informed that the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer confirmed there was no recall on the VIN. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Driving on the freeway, cruise control set, a remnant of a large tire was in my lane, I could not avoid hitting it, it caused my car to lose control, drive up on the concrete divider placed by construction crews, came back down to the freeway and hit the back of a semi causing my car to then spin out of control and eventually landing in a ditch. The entire front end of the car was damaged, the car was deemed totaled by the auto repair place. During this incident none of the airbags deployed.
