What owners report

Tesla 2026 Model Y was involved in a severe motor vehicle accident directly caused by a critical software and/or hardware malfunction of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) system. At the time of the incident, the vehicle's Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software suite was actively engaged and driving the vehicle. While navigating, the system suffered an abrupt and uncommented control malfunction. Despite prompt attention, the autonomous system executed an erratic, uncorrectable maneuver that overrode human intervention thresholds, completely failed to respond safely to the immediate driving environment, and directly caused a collision.

My Tesla (dark gray) was t-boned by a 2015 Hyundai (white) while it was passing the intersection on green light. The Hyundai hit my car when it tried to turn right on red light. My car was running at around 25 mph at that moment. About one second before the accident, my car's front collision warning went off, but everything was too late; the Hyundai's left front bumper hit my car. The crash did not cause any serious damage on the white Hyundai; as you can see in the photo, it barely got any dents, except its left front headlight cap was broken. The incident created small dents on my car's right fender panel and front right door. However, even though my car's front right wheel was not directly hit, it fell off during the accident. If my car was running at a high speed, it would have rolled over and caused serious injuries.

I am reporting a potential safety defect related to premature rear tire wear on my 2024 Tesla Model Y Performance At 15,482 miles, on May 2, 2025, Tesla's Paramus, NJ Service Center confirmed an alignment issue and performed a four-wheel alignment. At the same visit, they replaced both rear tires with Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4 275/35R21 103W XL and sold me a Tire Protection Plan for those tires (Tesla invoice #[redacted]). tesla_invoiceXXX The vehicle now has 24,460 miles. The rear tires have worn out in less than 10,000 miles and about 7 months since the alignment and replacement. The tread wear is excessive and uneven compared with the front tires, and is inconsistent with the normal expected life (around 20,000+ miles) of these tires. This appears to indicate an ongoing alignment or suspension issue that is causing abnormal rear tire wear. …

Two days ago, as I was turning left into my neighborhood, I suddenly lost control of my car's steering. Just as I started the turn, the steering wheel unexpectedly pulled to the right, causing my car to veer off course and head straight toward the curb. Despite trying to correct it, the steering wouldn't respond, and the car collided with the curb. The impact was substantial, and the vehicle continued dragging along the curb until I was able to bring it to a complete stop. Upon inspection, I found that the passenger-side front wheel had been severely damaged, appearing crushed and warped from the impact. When I looked under the car, I noticed that the control arm was visibly damaged. It seemed bent or possibly broken, which I suspect contributed to my sudden loss of control over the steering. …

My vehicle was rear ended while parked on the side of the road. No one was in the car so there was no personal injury. The car was repaired but after the repair the rear tires were found to be wearing out at a rate of 4 times normal speed. Two repair facilities (one of them being a Tesla service center) measured the vehicles rear alignment and found the camber to be outside of manufacturers specifications but couldn't fix the issue as the vehicle has no way to adjust the camber on the rear wheels. The insurance company tried to have the alignment fixed but could not as Tesla would not give any instructions on how to make the repair and suggested that the problem be fixed by Tesla under a warranty repair. This determination was made because the vehicles frame was found to be fine, and the suspension was fine, but the alignment was off with no way to make an adjustment. …

I was sideswiped by another vehicle which just joined our direction of traffic coming out of a cutout. As soon as I saw the vehicle moving fast from inside the cutout to join our direction and into my lane, I immediately decided to move to the lane next to me. I was at the leftmost lane at the time. Halfway into the lane I just felt the violent impact of the other vehicle hitting us. My wife and I were shaken so bad, we were shocked and terrified at what just happened and what else might happen to us. I felt like we were travelling on the front wheels with our rear end up in the air. Next thing we knew, the car stopped in front of a tree. Our iphones and the our car's phone called 911. We were pulled out of the car and taken immediately into an ambulance and Orange Global Hospital, where we stayed for about 2 days. X rays, CT Scan and MRI were taken. …
