The contact owns a 2015 Ram 2500 equipped with Cooper Tires, Tire Line: Discover AT3, Tire Size: 285/75/R17, DOT Number: (N/A). The contact became aware that the sidewalls on all four tires were cracked. The vehicle was taken to a tire center, and the contact was informed that the tires needed to be replaced. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted. The tire mileage was 36,000. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 126,000
one of my guys was driving a company vehicle when he felt wobble. upon returning to our property he showed me that the front passenger tire had major tread separation. no accidents, etc were involved. we had a tread separation on another truck 2 weeks ago so this brought up a red flag and i looked up the tires and found recalls of similar lines last year. So i want to log this in case other people are also having this issue. we have cooper discoverer at3 on a few trucks. Lt 245/70r17
lt245/70r17 we had the other front tire separate a few weeks ago. the employee was driving a few miles an hour on property when she felt and heard a thumping. immediately parked it. this is the 3rd tire in the last couple of months, all of them cooper discover LT tires without significant mileage that have had blets/tread split/separate. I foudn that there was a 500000 tire recall of this line last year. i think the problem is bigger.
TPMS requires minimum of 80 psi in rear tires of Ram truck. This is too high of tire pressure to assure the rear tires have adequate contact with the surface of the road under light load conditions. While driving in a 35 MPH stretch of pennsylvania roads with 80 psi (required) of tire pressure in the rear tires of my new Ram 2500, the truck rear tires broke free from the surface of the road several times requiring evasive measures to avoid an accident. The vehicle doesn't permit an option to reduce tire pressure monitoring system to a light load condition when necessary to reduce tire pressures. This creates an unsafe situation for motorists. Please issue a recall or change to these models before some is killed by loosing control of their vehicle. ...updated 07/30/15 updated 11/9/2015 updated 10/25/2017
Right rear tire on Ram 2500 megacab blew while towing a wildcat 312bhx 5th wheel on 7/25/2020 at 1:45 pm on I 26 w in sc at exit 159. Traveling at 65 MPH, tire was inflated to 78 psi and no alarm received from TPMS system prior to tire blow out, felt a weird vibration immediately before the exit and was attempting to exit to check the vehicle at the pilot station. The blow out caused $3858.59 worth of damage to the truck, not including the cost of new tires. No additional accident happened because we were able to pull safely off the interstate onto the shoulder and remove any large debris pieces from the interstate.
Left rear tire on Ram 2500 megacab blew while towing a wildcat 312bhx 5th wheel on 7/25/2020 at 4:30 pm on I 26 w in sc about 1 mile west of exit 72. Traveling at 65 MPH, tire was inflated to 78 psi and no alarm received from TPMS system prior to tire blow out, felt a weird vibration immediately before the tire blew. The blow out caused $5817.45 worth of damage to the truck, not including the cost of new tires. No additional accident happened because we were able to pull safely off the interstate onto the shoulder and remove any large debris pieces from the interstate.
Felt a vibration in the steering wheel after getting tires rotated on the truck. My husband followed me in our other vehicle and verified that the driver side front tire was bouncing as truck was driving down the road. Took truck back to discount tire in jacksonville, fl they removed and inspected the tire and found a bulge in the tread of the tire. Spare was installed on the truck while the tire was replaced under road hazard warranty that was purchased with the tire.
Vehicle TPMS on Ram 2500's is set to 80psi for "proper inflation" on a unloaded truck is way to much. When driving durning summer months tire pressure is exceeding max tire pressure of 80psi. No way to deflate tire to more safe pressures without TPMS "light" and "warning indicator" telling you to inflate tires to 80psi. Update TPMS to be able to lower tire pressures to a more reasonable pressure before someone blows out a tire and has or causes an accident.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 Ram 2500. While driving 35 MPH and encountering a change in elevation or a dip in the road, the driver side wheel became inoperable and unsteady. The dealer diagnosed that the steering stabilizer failed. The vehicle was taken for a second opinion, but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 26,000.
Firestone tires with only less than 16000 miles wore out which could cause a wreck if I have to drive vehicle in bad weather or rain. We noticed and even spoke to our dealer and mopar and nothing was done. You buy a new truck and pay over 50,000 for it you think the tire would last at least 3 to 6 yrs or at least 30,000 to 60,000 miles anyway.
