What owners report

Make : Pontiac model : Grand AM year : 2004 manufacturer : general motors corp. The hazard light switch in my 2004 Grand AM started making this clicking noise as if they were on but were not then it had become more intense and would not stop until the car was off and would start again as soon as the car was started, now mind you the car is 4 years old with 58,000 miles on it and I just got it barely 2 weeks ago... This had just started a couple of days ago and just recently as the car was in idle I accidentally hit and pushed the key inward and the car just shut off. Now it has come to my knowledge that there was a recall in 2003 for defective hazard lights not only in the Grand AM but in other GM made cars. My question is, if there was then how come a year later the same problem exist and in not only my Grand AM?

I had to have the ignition lock cylinder updated on my 2004 Grand AM in 2011 at the cost of $514.77. Now my car s being recalled for the key fob causing the ignition switch to shut down. While taking care of the key problem can a GM dealer be responsible for giving me my money back on the previous new ignition switch?

I have the passlock security system on my 2003 Pontiac Grand AM. I was parked at a store. I was sitting in the car with the key on in the ignition. My wife lifted the handle on the passenger's door. The door was locked, but my door was open. The car was running and after she lifted the door handle the ignition shut off. I tried restarting the car. The car was cranking but would not start. The security light was flashing on the dash board. I had to have the car towed. I wasn't able to restart the engine. The key was bought used in October 2006. The car only has 25,000 miles on the engine and is up to date on maintenance schedules. I have read on several internet sites that the passlock system has a history of cutting off the engine even with the car's key.

I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand AM v6. I bought it in 2005 from the dealer. Since then I've had to replace my ignition 3 times. The alarm system would go off in the middle of the night. The security signal would blink and my car would not and will not today for the 3rd time start. It has cut off on me on the freeway, I would pull over and the car start up after about 10 min. The sar not starting has been going on since I bought it most times it starts, but when it doesn't the tellme I have to replace my ignition. Im beginning to think its much more than that.

I have had my car in the shop several times for problems and they can typically replicate the problem, but cannot fix it. I have had 3 brake jobs on my car, as well as the calipers rebuilt, and my brakes still do not work right. The ABS system fails constantly. I experience slides on dry surfaces even. I also have transmission, coolant, and fueling problems. I have had a fuel pump replaced finally, after the 3rd time of taking it in for not starting, 2 times prior there was nothing supposedly wrong. Also, I AM still getting only 125 miles on a tank of gas. They an reciprocate the problem but will not fix it. I also keep getting a low coolant and check engine message lights but they say nothing wrong. The power windows also drag and make marks on the window surfaces. They are very slow rolling up. …

2002 Grand AM · 45,000 miles · Oct 2003

My 2002 Grand AM has a clicking sound coming from the dashboard. I took it to greenfield Pontiac after hearing about a service bulletin. They told me the bulletin did not cover the problem I had and that since it did not create a safety hazard, it was not covered. The cost to me would be about $300 for a new 'multifunction switch' which is the blinker/directional arm. My turn signals do function properly when I need to use them, and as far as I know the lights are not actually flashing. The clicking is not constant, or everyday, but when it gets going, sometimes it does not stop for 10 to 20 minutes. I think I'm going deaf from turning the radio up so I don't have to hear the clicking. I've had several other bad experiences with this vehicle that were not covered (I.e. Timing went at 40,000 mi--big bill!). I will never buy another GM product--they do not stand behind their vehicles!
