The consumer lost steering control while driving at 45 MPH. The consumer was able to bring the vehicle under control without being involved in a vehicle crash. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who informed the consumer that the high pressure hose for the power steering assist erupted. The consumer was concerned since a similar incident occurred before. The intermediate steering shaft was replaced, both front window lift motors were replaced, water leaked in the front passenger door, there was an extreme amount of engine noise as well as heat and exhaust entering the passenger compartment, there was two inches of play in the steering wheel, the steering locked up, there was a lack of power steering fluid in the reservoir, high pressure hose fluid leaked all over the underside of the vehicle and throughout the engine, the upper nut and the bolt that held the intermediate steering …
2002 Bonneville: all 4 doors/windows have been re-sealed multiple times because rain water flows down the outside of the windows, then flows inside the door, and then flows into the car at the bottom of the car door, causing soaked carpeting (puddles) and mold. Sun-roof mechanical linkage has cracked and broken off in places. I bet I used the sun-roof only 10 times before this happened. Sunroof now closes crooked. Dealer cost estimate to fix = $1200. All 4 power window units have been replaced and now doors rattle; right passenger door trim falls off routinely. Wiper fluid motor would not shut off. Crunching sound when I turn the steering wheel. All of these issues started occurring shortly after warranty expired.
Tl contact owns a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville. The contact noticed coolant leaking underneath the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced the intake gasket, valve cover gasket, oil pan, and several piping components at the cost of $1,400. The repairs were made at the contact's expense; however, the vehicle continued to leak coolant. The dealer stated that the contact should not be concerned. The contact later took the vehicle to a different dealer and they found that a coolant elbow pipe had been knocked out of place, which caused the leak. The necessary repairs were made to the vehicle for the second time at the cost of $10, due to the failure of the initial dealer. The failure mileage was 93,767 and current mileage was less than 105,000. Updated 07/08/09 the front passenger electric window motor failed and needs to be replaced for a second time. …

The dealer said all it needed was grease,,which they did last year,,,now its doing it again,,& now they say its a steering shaft problem...I have been waiting for over 3 weeks for the part to come in,,,repeated calls,,& I am told they have no idea when the part will come in,,,they said drive it,,,it won't fall out????? They also said the reason for the delay is its a country wide back log???? What does that mead,,,,I am afraid to drive this car...& GM service does not know either...
2000 Pontiac Bonneville with 32,000 miles. The drivers side rear door window dropped out of track while driving. I do not use the rear windows and it was in the up position and not in use. So far I have taken it to a body shop and had them prop the window up temporarily. They advised me to get it fixed because of fear the side air bag May be affected by disconnecting the power to the window. I called the dealer in our town and asked if there have been others with this problem and they said not that they were aware of. I was told they don't sell the track separately from the whole assembly including the motor and the cost of parts would be at least $350.00. I know of another owner with the same year and model as mine and both of their rear windows did this in a matter of days of each other. He lives in my town and this makes me think it must be a widespread problem. …
I have had my 2000 Bonneville in the shop several times for various reasons. My radio had to be replaced, my drivers side window stopped working and they replaced the motor, now my passenger side window does not work and needs to be repaired. My trunk leaked and was told the extended warrenty did not cover it and the expense was on me. My air conditioner would blow cold air and then hot air or not blow cold air at all, it was in the shop 2-3 times for that. Now my car hesitates when speeding up and you can feel it jerking into gear when it shifts between 1st and 2nd gear or 2nd and 3rd. For this reason I had my transmission fluid replaced and an additive put in and was told this should take care of the problem. It has not!! My next step is to take it back to the dealership to find the problem. Is there anything I should know about concerning the transmission jerking, recalls,etc..?
Tl contact owns a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville. In 2003, while driving 15 MPH, the contact noticed a huge cloud of white smoke at the rear of the vehicle. The dealer stated that the intake manifold had blown the gasket. The intake manifold gasket was replaced as well as the intake manifold itself. In 2005, the fuel pressure regulator switch blew out and was repaired under recall; however, the failure recurred in 2007. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that this would cause the engine to blow due to leakage of fuel into the engine. Also, the rear window defroster switch would not shut off. He had to remove the fuse to prevent it from draining the battery. The failure mileage was 63,000 and current mileage was 104,000. Update 09/10/08 updated 09/19/08.
After taking vehicle to the car wash consumer noticed water had entered into the passenger's compartment, water entered on the passenger's side. Also, windshield wipers stalled and hood did not fully close. Consumer has contacted dealer. Please provide any further details.
