What owners report
1. Driving to work in the morning with the headlights on 2. Alternator amps charging from 13.2 - 15.7 amps, headlights and instrument lights will flicker when this is happening. 3. Replaced generator, 1 10464442 w-gen rem part number 10464442 this was done on May 9, 2003. Service manager said it was because of an air pump for the anti polution system on the Aurora with v6 engines, that draws alot of amps and that the generator could not compensate fast enough. In February of this year the same thing happened. I again had the generator replaced etc..the service manager reported to me that the headlights would not go totally out...!!! And that the only way to make sure that it didn't happen again was to disconnect the pump but that the check engine light would go on!! I opted to not do this. I think this is a dangerous situation and I ask you to look into this.
My 2002 Aurora v6, RPM started acting haywire it shot up to 8 grand at 30 MPH. The engine and transmission were acting normal. It happened again 2 days latter then all of my dash lights and headlights went out. I took it in to the shop. I had the trans vacuum sensor changed along with the headlights. This did the trick for 24 hours. Not I have the same problem and the dealer can not figure out what is wrong or how to fix it. Can someone help with this.
The vehicle caught on fire from the gas tank. I had driven the car put gas in the car parked the car and it caught on fire. The fire men said the fire started from the gas system.. The car was parked in private parking lot running.
They vehicle suddenly and unpredictably turns off. This results in lost power steering, power brakes. The vehicle must be restarted. This occurs while the vehicle is in in motion, transmission in drive. Repair technicians have been unable to identify a cause for the sudden failure. These failures have occurred on multiple occasions. The most recent occurrence.
1999 Oldsmobile Aurora. I took car to dealer because tail lights quit working. Dealer did not have parts in stock so I took it home. The next morning I went outside and found the car had caught fire and burnt. It appeared to have started in the area of the relays the dealer service department worked on.
I own a 1999 Oldsmobile Aurora and have noticed the passenger floor accumulating large amounts of water. When I removed the rear seat ( which is where the battery and other electricial wires are located ) the battery compartment is full of water, along with the rear floor board. It has not rained so I'm not sure where the water has come from or how long it has been there. I cleaned the water out, but it has since come back in a very rapid time frame. If you could please contact me it would be great.. Oldsmobile has no information on this for me.
1. The lights came on by themselves and started flickering. 2.this drained the battery. 3. The mechanic had to replace the multi function stalk switch and a module under the dash. This seems to be a common problem with the Aurora's, and I feel that Oldsmobile needs to recall these cars or at least reimburse all of the owners who have experienced this problem. A simple internet search on ggogle.com found many people with the same problem, so it's obviously a design problem.
Car stalls once a day, almost every day in traffic. Sometimes it doesn't quite stall and catches itself and learches forward a few feet. Neither Oldsmobile or indipendent mechanics can find the problem. Tha codes are there in memory of the car but the codes do not say what to do about the problem. Know one knows what to do other than guessing and changing expensive parts.

These vehicles were assembled with a malfunction alarm, lighting and locking (mall) module that can contain a damaged capacitor. If the capacitor is damaged, the "key in the ignition" warning chime and the driver seat belt unbuckled warning chime and indicator lamp May not work. This does not meet the requirements of FMVSS no.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the mall module.
