Rear axle seal leaks in this model it is a known problem yet Nissan still chooses to do nothing about it ,it is a huge safety issue it leaks fluid continuously on to the back breaking system so not only could it comprise your whole back end but also your ability to stop your vehicle safely, this has been reported thousands of times to your agency in the meantime the consumers continue to replace these every 30-40,000 miles just to maintain their safety and others on the road when I feel it is time Nissan address this and take the necessary steps to ensure the braking system in these vehicles is not creating a potential hazard top the driver or others on the road . …

Left & right rear seals leaking on my king cab 05 Nissan Titan. I had the 60,000 mile service done in early July 2009, at the dealership. The approximate mileage on my truck at that time was around 66,000 miles. Upon completing the job, the next day, most of the transmission fluid leaked out of my truck. The dealership came to my house and repaired the leak and topped off the transmission fluid. They said that it was a failed hose clamp. They took my truck back to the dealership to look it over to confirm that everything else was OK. They also check on a fan recall that was pending. They told me that no repairs were necessary. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that transmission fluid appeared to be leaking again from the front end. I took my truck in earlier this week and the dealership replaced a leaking transmission hose at no charge. …

I have a 2005 Nissan Titan se 4x4 off road edition. While going around a conner I heard a loud poping noise. I stopped the truck and looked under it. I noticed fluid coming from the right rear of the vehicle. I took it to Nissan and they inspected it. They told me it was the right rear wheel bearing. I asked them to fix it. They put in a new part but that did not fix the problem. They did not charge me for that work. I then talked to the shop foreman of Nissan and he told me that it was a dowl pin coming loose between the spider gears without pulling the cover off or anything. He said that the rear ends fail a dime a dozen with models 2004-2007. I asked how much it would be to fix it and I was told 3200 dollars. If Nissan has know about this problem for some time I think that Nissan needs to stand behind their product and actually issue a recall before someone gets hurt. …

We purchased a truck from Nissan in October of 2004. It has been in the shop many times and in December of 2004, it was there over 30 days. The transmission and the rear end have both gone out, windows don't roll up and down correctly, rattling in the cab where the visor and garage door openers are held. The brake, vdc, tow, and ABS switch stay on all the time. The brakes are going out and the whole truck shimmies. Now in addition to the transmission being replaced once, it's slipping again. Nissan stated they would pay for the rental on the 30 days, but that was a lie. They socked me with an $283.00 bill. $181.00 was to fill up the tank with gas!!!!!!! There are also missing valves on the tires they themsleves took off and didn't replace and the alarm goes off by itself when no one is around. Give me a break...Nissan states this does not qualify for the lemon law. …

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact was driving 20 MPH as the vehicle began to abnormally pull to the right. The vehicle was taken in for numerous wheel alignments but the repair did not correct the failure. The contact stated that a camber kit was missing. The camber kit allowed the front end to adjust properly during wheel alignment. The contact stated that the vehicle was manufactured without a camber kit and has to be purchased as an aftermarket part. The contact called the manufacturer regarding the camber kit and the manufacturer stated that the camber kit was an aftermarket part purchased at the contact's expense. The contact stated that the camber kit should have come with the vehicle since it was a safety device. The contact believed the vehicle to be unsafe to drive. The failure mileage was 128,000.

My rear leaf spring shackle snapped punching a hole though the truck bed opening it up like a tuna can while I was on the highway and nearly lost control in a construction zone where there were quite a few people working on the side of the road. Did some investigating and it seems like a pretty common problem for the 04-07 titans and am wondering why I (or the thousands of others who've had the same problem) were not informed about this from the fine folks at Nissan before people get killed. I would have paid to replace them myself had I just been told.....its not about the money...safety is number one in my book especially when I'm hauling around my 18 month old in something that the factory knows has a life threatening defect and doesn't tell anyone!!!!!!!! Sincerely pissed!!

2005 Nissan Titan crew cab 4x4 with off-road package, within 10,000 miles there were loose bolts on the transfer case. At 38,500 miles the left front differential seal failed and leaked. At 39,800 miles the power steering hose went bad and leaked. At 51,000 miles the circular clip on the axle at front left differential deformed causing axle to begin to fall out of vehicle!!! Thankfully all has been covered under our extended warranty, and dealerships have replaced parts, but when it runs out these will come from our pocket, and no one can guarantee the new parts are not just replacements or any better. This could have resulted in death or injury to us or someone else had that axle fell from vehicle, and could occur again.

Tl contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. While driving approximately 10 MPH, the contact stated that he heard a howling noise from the rear of the vehicle. When he attempted to change lanes, the rear end locked up and skidded about one hundred feet before it stopped, causing the rear drive axle to pop off. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where they performed a diagnostic test which concluded that the rear end needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified who informed the contact that his vehicle was no longer under warranty and offered no further assistance. The vehicle was repaired by a private mechanic. The current and failure mileages were 106,000. Updated 03/16/11 updated 12/20/11

I have a 2005 Nissan Titan with only 44000 miles on it. During recent driving it sounded as if the right rear was grinding to pieces. It continually got worse so I looked under the truck to see if there was something that was caught and dragging. It was so loud that people would stare at the truck when it passed by. After it was taken to the garage they discovered that the insides of the right rear axle were almost completely torn apart. It was very fortunate that it did not cause a serious problem while driving. They also found that the left axle was leaking and would likely also break down. The cost to repair the truck was over $1700.00.
