What owners report

On September 29, 2017 around 9-10 pm , my husband had just picked me up from work and I was 6 months pregnant, we were driving down the highway and a car on the opposite side of the highway pulled out from the light and hit us on the driver side wheel and fender and broke the steering knuckle, the rack and pinion and broke the steering wheel loose, also the suspension. My car was disabled from the accident. I also had to be rushed to the hospital because I was having contractions so they wanted to make sure my baby was okay. Also the driver hit us and ran. The cops never found the car. In order for me to get my car back on the road I had to purchase a steering column, a rack and pinion, and steering knuckle and suspension out of my own pocket. I was never informed of a recall.

Reference NHTSA action number pe 08060.on 7 April, 2011 I had failure of two tire valves and destruction of one tire. Both valves leaking air at point of insertion, ie cracked stems.visited local Ford dealer, carbone Ford-Lincoln on 11 April 2011. Was told no recall would fix for a price. Told him of NHTSA report and that it was a manufacturing defect and Ford should be responsible and was told I was being unfair. In my request. Got nowhere with Ford , they did not even want to inspect problem, just pay or leave. On 12 April 2011, I contacted Ford motors by phone and spoke with denise. Denise was surprised to hear of such a problem (???) told me the service manager should not have been rude to me and informed me there were no recalls on my vehicle. …

2005 Grand Marquis · 100,000 miles · Mar 2014 · crash

On Saturday, oct. 21, 2006 at approximately 12:00 pm I was driving on I-95 just south of port saint lucie florida, traveling at 70 MPH, when I experienced a catastrophic blow out of the right rear tire on my 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis, with 14,980 mile on the odometer. The tires were all original equipment tires. The vehicle sustained no damage but the sidewalls were completely shredded, after traveling about 500 to 600 feet to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway. I had to purchase a new Michelin tire at a cost of $144.96 -with a 65,000 mi. Warranty! The tire that blew with less than 14,980mi was not warranted or pro rated by the dealer or by Michelin. I did not run over anything in the roadway, and brought the tire to two different tire shops and they could not figure out what happened. I called Michelin and they told there was nothing they could do. This is ridiculous! …

The steering wheel vibrates when driving at speeds of 58 MPH and faster. The dealership has serviced the vehicle 5 times, in which they balanced the tires, rotate the tires and made an adjustment in the steering column. The problem still exist. The dealership also indicated that the steering wheel meets factory specifications and the shake is minimum. The dealer rotated and balanced the system but the shaking persisted. When the vehicle tires and wheels were replaced with cast aluminum the shaking was no longer felt. The consumer feels that the previous set of tires and wheels were defective.

I recently had to replace two wheels on my wife's 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis due to substantial wheel cracks along the welds on the outer flange of the wheel causing the tires to deflate (two separate events). I see reported in USA today that interceptor are being recalled for this same 'serious safety' problem. I contacted Ford/Mercury about my vehicle and they say that it is not covered at this time and that "Ford and the national highway traffic and safety administration (NHTSA) work together to proactively identify areas of concern through investigation of consumer and dealer feedback. During an investigation Ford cooperates fully with NHTSA. Ford does not speculate on the outcome of any current investigation or future actions. …

Bridgestone insignia se 200 with 35,000 miles. Car was driving normally at 40 MPH, began feeling a vibration. Soon the car was wiggling like a wheel was loose. Handling worsened rapidly. In 5 miles I became so concerned I pulled off the road & called aaa. One tire had bulges. Put the spare on and saw the tire had began to separate in the middle of the tread about 8 inches long & down to steel belt. Another separation inside near sidewall.
