What owners report
Vehicle experienced multiple safety-related failures at approximately 500 miles. The failures included complete instrument cluster loss (no speedometer or gauges), unpredictable windshield wiper operation, headlight flickering, complete loss of brake lights and turn signals, rear liftgate malfunction, and airbag/seatbelt warning indicators. These issues created unsafe operating conditions, including inability to monitor vehicle speed, loss of rear signaling and brake indication to other drivers, and uncertainty regarding airbag system functionality. This presented a risk to both the driver and surrounding traffic. The failures occurred intermittently and in combination, indicating a potential systemic electrical issue rather than a single isolated component failure. The vehicle has been taken to an authorized Mazda dealership and is currently under inspection and repair. …
On multiple occasions, the steering wheel became stiff or locked while driving or during start-up, multiple dashboard warning lights illuminated, and the vehicle could not be shifted from Park to Drive. This occurred repeatedly since the vehicle was purchased. The dealer inspected the vehicle multiple times; on the first attempts they could not duplicate the issue. On a later visit, the vehicle displayed a lost communication fault with the electric power steering (EPS) system, and the dealer replaced the steering gear/rack assembly and EPS motor per the manufacturer's technical hotline instructions. Despite this part replacement, the same steering/warning light condition recurred weeks later. At that point the dealer confirmed the defect but stated there is currently no authorized repair or parts replacement available, and that engineering is developing a permanent corrective action. …

The contact stated that while driving the vehicle at an undisclosed speed, there was a very strong gasoline odor coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. Additionally, the battery charge was low. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle was a new vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 28,000.
On 3/19/2026, the vehicle ignition was turned on. Immediately, we received a variety of warnings, including: "charging system malfunction", "i-ACTIVESENSE Partially Disabled", "Hybrid System Malfunction", "i-stop Malfunction", "Charging System Malfunction", and "Critical Systems Failure". Vehicle has only 20,040 miles. On 3/20/2026 8:30 AM, we contacted the Mazda dealer where vehicle was purchased new and they said "we are not sure when we can get to it--it could be several weeks". We had the vehicle towed to this dealer since they were involved in addressing the recall about "fuel sensors". An email was also sent to Mazda corporate so they would be aware of the response we received from the dealer and help with a car rental. It was very fortunate that we were not on the highway when this happened as it would have been an extreme safety risk.
The contact leases a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact stated that on two separate occasions while stopped and the ON/OFF feature was activated, the vehicle shut off. The contact then stated that she had received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V816000( Electrical System, Power Train). The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the vehicle was serviced. The contact stated that while driving at a 20 MPH, the vehicle shut off as the previous warning messages appeared on the instrument panel. The contact managed to restart the vehicle; however, an audible beeping sound persisted. Due to the failure, the contact pulled over and had the vehicle towed to the dealer. …
The contact owns a 2024 Mazda CX-90. The contact was informed about a previous recall associated with the steering that was repaired prior to owning the vehicle, but the failure persisted.
