25% of my 2008 Lexus IS 350 dash IS melting. The shine from the dash reflects off the windshield producing a significant glare. This issue could potentially cause an accident. The material used for the dash and door panels are defective and not up to par for Lexus or any other luxury auto maker. Contacted Lexus customer care directly and they realize there's an issue based on the pics I sent them. They offered me 25% parts and labor.there IS no recall at this point. I bought the car last year, July 2013. It wasn't evident that the dash was melting until summer, this year. I bought a sun shield and tinted the windows to limit the melting dash. The sum shield sticks to the dash now.
Dashboard has developed a sticky, shiny appearance. Dealership has acknowledged that these models have this problem but will not cover under warranty. The shiny appearance makes it difficult to see out the windshield in strong sunlight. I feel this IS very unsafe. Will the airbag deploy properly with a sticky surface?
