Since the same year I bought my 2017 kia Sedona L which was [redacted], from Orlando Kia North, Longwood florida; I have been having an electrical safety issue. The wipers turn on by themselves front and rear and I can't turn them off. In addition to this problem I've been having for almost 5 years now, the highbeam will also at different times do the same thing, turn on by itself. My headlights have also turned off on one or two occasions as well. In around August of 2019 I first took my vehicle in with the complaint and several times afterwards. The first 2 times they couldn't duplicate the issue so nothing was done. After that they said they found a short and replaced the clock spring then after that it was a short in the multifunction switch. Neither of these replacements have resolved the issue. …

Images on the backup camera is intermittently very difficult to see. This is easy to reproduce when backing out of a covered garage into sunlight. While the entire car is in the shade the image is clear, however as soon as the camera on the back of the car hits the sun, the image becomes very difficult to see. It is "blown out" and very white. As soon as the front of the car where the light sensor is hits the sunlight the backup image adjusts and is clear and effective. The system needs a light sensor where the camera is located in order to adjust the light settings to match the camera's environment. This is dangerous in that the camera is initially working and then suddenly becomes unusable while the driver May be relying on it. This could result in a crash or injury as the driver backs up while relying on the backup camera system. This is fairly easy to reproduce consistently.

It started with the fuses for the power plug in the front blew several times and had to be replaced. About 2 months after that the turn signal bulb kept going out on the passenger side, we thought at first that the bulb kept blowing out. This kept happening every couple of months until about 10 months ago now every couple of weeks the bulb blows again and we have to keep buying bulbs and paying to have them replaced. One of the people who inspected our car this month was going to replace another bulb but he told us that as soon as he touched the bulb it started working again. That there must be a short of some kind but he passed the inspection since the bulb worked now. …

I had the wind shield wiper heater on to help de-ice the wind shield. Approximately 10 minutes into travel I smelled an electrical burning smell. I pulled over into a gas station and started to inspect the car, opened the hood and looked around and the instrument panels, fuses etc. I didn't find anything. I got back into the car and I heard what sounded like glass cracking and heard a popping noise. There was smoke coming from the lower wind shield. I got back out and looked and it appeared that the wiper heater malfunctioned in the wind shield and popped a hole in the wind shield. There was scorching around the hole that was blown in the wind shield and the windshield continued to crack up through the drivers line of vision and also all the way across to the passenger side of the window. …

While our front windshield was being replaced due to damage from road debris, the technician informed us and showed us how the window was separating from the car. The adhesive was completely separated from the window pane. The defect was noted in the upper left and right sides of the window. The technician informed us that in the event of a collision, the window would have dislodged from the vehicle.

The front windshield wiper linkage easily comes loose, causing loss of functionality for the front wipers. The cause is the nut connecting the linkage to the motor coming loose and popping off, disengaging the linkage from the motor. This has happened to the same vehicle twice: the first time (early 2008), we took the vehicle to the dealer, who repaired the linkage but refused to cover it under the vehicle's bumper-to-bumper warranty, saying it was caused by running the wipers when they were stuck in ice. The second time (December 4, 2008), we fixed the problem ourselves after the dealer informed us that they would not be able to see the vehicle until the following Monday. I feel that this is a significant safety issue. …
