Comment: my wife has a 2000 jag stype v8 4.0 that we purchased aprox 4 yrs ago, but not from a jag dealer. The connecting rod in the motor went & a few months ago I got a used motor to replace that one & took it all apart & realized that the same thing was wrong with that one also. The #6 cylinders & the #1 were both bad. So I got another used motor & couldn't believe it but the exact same thing was wrong with that one too. I called a friend of mine who owns a repair shop to see if he could get me a deal on a new motor & he said that he just had a jag same year make & model come into the shop with the same exact problem. (now that's 4 motors within 10 min of my house that have this issue.) I started thinking that maybe there was some kind of recall or defect with it. …
A Jaguar 2000 was purchased on dec 2003. It had 39000 miles. I have only put on 4000 miles on this car and the ball joint broke the other day and I was almost killed. The car was towed to a local foreign auto place and Jaguar refuses to repair the ball joint. Claiming they will only take the claim from a registered Jaguar dealer. So the car was towed today to momentum Jaguar on the sw freeway and I was told that the ball joint was replaced on the drivers side in April 2001 and it broke again???in less that 43000 miles we have had 2 defective ball joints?? And the passenger side is defective as well and needs to be changed!! This is a serious defect and Jaguar is disclaiming any and all responsibility...it also has A/C problems and electrical problems. The sensors do not work and were replaced last year. The window regulators broke and were charged to me.. …

Dt*: the contact stated there was NHTSA recall campaign 00V359002 concerning the suspension, however, the recall did not correct the problem. The dealer was contacted, and they explained the recall repairs had already been completed once. The drivers side window regulator and motor needed to be replaced, the engine overheated numerous times. The air conditioner did not work.. Updated 01/19/06.
Engine runs poorly due to large vacuum leak. Stalled many times without warning. Problem component is a deteriorated vacuum hose at the crankcase breather under the intake manifold. It appears that oil, fuel, and heat are affecting the rubber. After repairs motor does not stall but continues to stumble at idle. Dealer unable to repair the problem even though they acknowledged there was something wrong.
Fluid leaking under car was noticed. Sensor and alert system on car did not indicate any problems. We called the dealer and purchased the coolant reservoir and coolant and had it installed. The leaking reservoir has stress cracks on all corners just waiting to blow up from the pressure.
