What owners report

I own a 2007 Isuzu Ascender I have right at 42,000 miles on it I filled the tank yesterday and had 3/4 a tank remaining last night this morning on my way to work I had driven a less than a mile from my home and the gas gauge started going down and within a mile from home my gas light was on and my tank showed empty . I drove my vehicle home and switched to my other vehicle when I pulled in my driveway and put the vehicle in park the gas gauge jumped back up to 3/4 full . I called the Isuzu dealer in knoxville tn and as soon as I stated what was going on he knew what was wrong with my vehicle so I figured that they had more problems with this than just mine so I looked online when I got of work and I have read numerous reports and they are all the same problem with these vehicles starting all the way back to the 2005's . …

I purchased a 2007 Isuzu Ascender with 9,900 miles on Monday, February 2, 2009. In November of 2010, the gas gauge started to read inaccurately. If I filled the tank, the gas gauge would show filled. After driving approximately 70-80 miles, the gauge needle would slowly drop to 'e' and the low fuel light would come on. I searched this issue on the internet and found several similar complaints involving GMC vehicles. I am not aware of any recalls that were issued, however, I feel there should be. Based on the number of people who experience this problem. For now, I continue to fill the tank, reset the tripometer and refill once I've driven 90-100 miles, as I am not prepared to spend $800 to replace the faulty fuel sending unit...the mileage on this vehicle is 24K. Thank you

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Isuzu Ascender. The contact stated that after refueling the fuel tank and starting the engine, the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was empty and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the fuel gauge meter. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,000.

Fuel gauge does not read correctly due to a bad sensor. Sensor is in fuel tank and estimate to fix is between $600 and $1000. Isuzu admits they have a defective part and would pay to replace if vehicle had less than 120000 miles and less than ten years in service. Vehicle has 80000 miles and ten years and eight months in service. I am original owner.

My 2005 isuszu Ascender had ; still has a problem associated with the fuel line and pump. I had about 75,000 miles on the car. We had been driving about 900 miles and my water pump went out, so we stopped in a Goodyear/ Firestone shop in rural mo. I had the water pump repaired. Fifteen minutes after the repair was done I stopped to refuel the car. After the pump shut off and I turned on the vehicle, my fuel gage read empty and was beeping on "e" as we drove out of gas station. After driving about 20 miles it registered as full. This continued for several fill ups. We drive far distances here in the midwest, I needed to know how much gas is in my tank at all times. I had fuel pump replaced, but now engine light stays on. My mechanic says that I need to have a pressure test at an Isuzu service center there is a leak of some type, related to my fuel line. …

2005 Ascender · 85,000 miles · Apr 2010

I have been having issues with my gas gauge for about 3 weeks...at first I would fill up the tank or at least think it was full as the gauge would move all the way over to full then after I would stop pumping and turn on the car the gauge would go down to 3/4 tank and fluctuate back and forth between 3/4 and full over several days. Then yesterday I went and filled up and decided to not use the gauge as a measuring system and instead just let the pump go until it clicked off as it does when tank is full so I did this and the gauge went up to full then bounced back to empty and now my fuel low light is on and I cannot get any range reading on mileage for gas or anything. Also it should be noted that about that same 3 weeks ago my speedometer stopped working briefly starting off at 65 MPH at rest then it gradually made its way back down to zero at rest and has since seemed to be OK.

My transmission has had to be fix 3 times 2 of those time me and my 5 children where driving on the freeway and my car stopped picking up speed and we had to pull to the side of the rode. My back vents for my A/C do not work, the back door opens all the time one time it opened and all our groceries fell out and when I try to pump gas into my car it would take forever the pump would stop like it was full but now it just spills out and my car smells like gas so bad on the inside I can't even drive it anymore. It's one thing after another and I have only had this car for 2 years and it's one thing after another.

2004 Ascender · 100,000 miles · Oct 2015

Recall has been issued on faulty gas tank. Had car inspected by Isuzu facility 2/4/16 and new part(s) ordered. Cannot get any information as to when part will be in and my car repaired. In the meantime, driving with faulty, gas-leaking, probably dangerous car. GM apparently not communicating with Isuzu and parts not getting produced.
