Owner reports
Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2022 Hyundai Veloster N owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
While making a low speed turn (<10mph) the LKA icon (black panel) and failure alert (center screen) appeared on the meter, then immediately after the power steering icon (black panel) and failure alert (center screen) appeared on the meter. The electroninc power steering completely died and I nearly ran into an oncoming car and then I actually ran off the road slightly into the grass after correcting in the other direction. I tried a quick ignition cycle on the side of the road and the issue persisted so I pulled into a parking lot and did another ignition cycle but I waited a minute or so before restarting the car. …
Vehicle stalled after misfire in cylinder 4. No signs of problems prior to failure of injector number 4 at 14000 miles. Upon investigating prior history of vehicle owner, customer reported misfire on cylinder 2, and 4 at 3 thousand miles. Technician replaced injector 2 only. Months after, my vehicle stalled due to misfire in cylinder 1, which was corrected by restarting car. Injector number one was replaced. at the moment with only 24000 miles on vehicle, 3 out of 4 injectors have prematurely failed. After doing hpfp recall update on ECM, Dual clutch transmission was rough shifting from first to second at random intervals. This shift sounded very metallic and un-lubricated. Eventually, the banging sound went away after happening for 3 months. …
Left and right side blind spot indicators illuminate unnecessarily, causing undue concern while trying to change lanes as the car alerts to a potential collision when there is no hazard. The problem is very intermittent, and seems to have some correlation to the vehicle's tires, as the issue began occurring after I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 tires from the factory Pirelli P Zero tires. This is especially problematic because Hyundai has decided to ship this model vehicle with summer performance tires that are unsafe to drive in temperatures under 50 f all 12 months of the year, so there are numerous customers who have needed to switch tires for safety, and then had their BSM system malfunction. A software or hardware fix for this issue is needed as soon as possible.
The blindspot monitor system in the Hyundai Veloster N does not function as well as other Hyundai vehicles do. While driving, the blindspot monitor will randomly go off even if there is no car in my blindspot and it will sometimes not go off when there is a car driving in my blindspot. I took the car to the dealership to fix the issue and after waiting for weeks to get my car back, my local Hyundai dealership was unable to fix it and I was told there would be a recall for it eventually. Many other cars, including Hyundai vehicles, have perfectly working blindspot monitors. The Veloster N does not have the best visibility and I rely on them to help avoid crashing into the car next to me when I am changing lanes.
The Blind Spot Warning system no longer functions correctly after changing the stock wheels/tires on the vehicle. Immediately following the change of wheels/tires, the Blind Spot Warning system reports false positives frequently, requiring me to turn off the system. This affects my safety and others because I can no longer trust the accuracy of the system, and need to completely turn it off. I have not yet had this issue inspected by the manufacturer, but this same issue has been reported by a large amount of users who also changed their wheels or tires on their vehicle. Many report that they have gone to their dealerships and have had replacement systems installed, but with no remedy to the issue.
While driving my 2022 Hyundai Veloster N (around 44,000 miles), the steering system suddenly failed without warning. All lane departure and steering warning lights came on, and the steering wheel locked hard to the left, causing the car to veer into oncoming traffic. I narrowly avoided a collision and was able to regain control, but it was extremely dangerous. The vehicle was later diagnosed by the dealership as needing an entire new steering rack. This is the second time this same issue has happened after it was supposedly repaired, and I no longer feel safe driving this car.
This problem has happened sporadically since the first instance described below. I was driving in the left lane at 65mph on the highway during a bend in the road. The steering when extremely stiff, which is extremely alarming on the highway. The car chimed and produced the messages, "check power steering" and "check lane departure warning system". From that point until I was able to stop somewhere safely, the vehicle had no power steering. Turning the car off and on is a short term remedy about half of the time, and the problem returns either immediately, or days later.
After replacing the OEM summer tires to Continental DWS, the Blind spot detection system is malfunctioning always saying there is a car in my blind spot when there is no car there. Same tire size as OEM was put on my OEM Rims. My car has less then 1000 miles right now, brand new bought it with 11 miles and was working fine. Nothing has been changed other then tires. Hasn't been in an accident, Windshield is spotless. Nothing has hit my rear bumper. I don't know why and niether do dealerships why my BSD is triggering falsely with just a tire change. Please Help.
The vehicle intermittently enters a state in which Lane Keeping Assistance (LKA) and Power Steering simultaneously fail, indicated by lights and notifications on the cluster and resulting in complete loss of power steering. This malfunction can occur at any point in the vehicle's operation, which includes when the vehicle is parked, and lasts until the vehicle has had the battery disconnected or power has been turned off for at least 15 minutes, after which point the malfunction may still return upon next operation of the vehicle.
steering rack failed once already and was replaced in entirety thru dealership now it is making creaking sound whenever turning wheel left or right at slow speeds engine issues two years into ownership- white smoke coming from exhaust and required two new spark plugs the blind spot warning has never worked and there is heavy documentation online from other owners stating it simply does not work (and has never worked)
