I'm reporting a serious safety issue with my 2024 Hyundai Sonata. After a routine service at Koons Hyundai of Woodbridge in late February, the under-engine splash shield detached and dragged under the vehicle while I was driving on the highway. Upon inspection, it was clear that the splash shield was not secured with any screws or clips - it was either improperly installed during service or never fastened at all. This caused the shield to flap violently at high speeds before tearing off entirely. It posed a serious hazard to me and other drivers on the road. When I brought the issue to the dealership, they refused responsibility, falsely claimed it was caused by scratches (despite no such damage before the failure), and told me and my wife that we are no longer welcome for service. A part like this should never fall off a new vehicle, especially after a recent service. …

Recall 286 my vehicle suffered from this causing heat module failure misfire in cylinder 2 and high pressure in gas tank. Sports Hyundai had previously done a 180 day repair under recall 9b1 for an expanded gas tank after the repair the car suffered from the updated recall 286 . I brang to the dealership 4 times with check engine and misfires and limp mode between 57k and 68k they refused to fix the car under recall 286 and cleared all the codes and continued to make me leave in a unsafe car. On February 14th it sport Hyundais negligence was the direct cause of an auto accident were the car was unable to move out the way because of lack of power /limp mode. I begged them in the final days of me having the car to fix it and saying I didn't feel safe and they wouldn't without an extensive amount of money I could not provide . …

I experienced trouble with my splash guard being damaged from hanging and scraping the ground about a month after purchasing the vehicle. Also, my hood paint started chipping after a recent cold front experienced in my state earlier this year. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. Regarding the splash guard, not applicable. It's was very inconvenient to drive with a portion of my car scraping the ground. I had to be more mindful of my driving in the higher speed limit areas incase the splash guard detached. I had it re-attached multiple times. Regarding the chipped paint, not applicable. It it counts, for my splash guard, during a servicing, I asked Hyundai to re-attach it. For the chipped paint, no.
