What owners report
I own a 2024 Honda HR-V. During the second winter of ownership, the windshield cracked under normal conditions without any known impact, collision, or external force. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Honda dealership for inspection. The dealership did not document any cause of the crack and did not identify any impact damage. Instead, they only provided an estimate for replacement. Despite the lack of documented external cause, the manufacturer has classified the damage as "external" and declined responsibility. I am concerned that this may indicate a potential defect in the windshield or structural stress issue, as the crack occurred without any identifiable external trigger. I am submitting this report to ensure this issue is documented in case similar incidents occur with other vehicles.
I woke up MLK day to find that my side left mirror had cracked, from top to the middle of the mirror, just a straight line. There was no damage to the rest of the car, no indication of anything hitting the mirror, just a clean crack, eventually the crack when through the whole mirror. I then reported to my honda dealership who then told me the side mirror is on back order which is causing a safety issue because it is challenging to drive when a mirror split it half, it throws off what I am looking at as I am driving There was no warning of an issue, just cracked and the car was parked in our driveway
In the morning of December 31, 2024, I got into my 2023 Honda HRV and as I turned on the ignition, I was shocked by the shattering sound of glass at the rear of the vehicle. To my horror, it was the rear windshield that had shattered to smithereens. I was terribly upset by this incident and while thinking of my next action, I learned through Google that it was due to a manufacturing defect with the 2023 Honda HRV model. Yet, I had not been notified by the Honda of any recall in regard to this defect. I took the car to the nearest Honda dealership where they plastered the rear of my car with a thin plastic and promised to call me as soon as they got the necessary parts. The incident could have caused serious physical and emotional injuries if I had passengers in the rear seats of the car. Even, all alone, I was emotionally traumatized by the incident.
While I was driving back from work on January 31, 2023 the rear windshield of my car exploded for no apparent reason. The noise was so loud that flinched. If there was a car was in front of me I would have caused an accident. The windshield shattered and if I had children or anyone in the back seat they would have pieces of glasses on the back of their heads. I was thankful that I did not have any broken glasses on the back of my head. I dropped the car off at a Honda dealership on January 31 st. I still do not have a car, nor will they give me a loaner to get to work. They were no warning messages that alerted me prior to the incident. I brought the car new and it's only a year old. I believe this is a defect on Honda's manufacturing. I hope no one get hurts by this, because I know it's causing me a lot of inconveniences.

Issues: Sunroof leaks heavily: during the rain and in car washes, into the backseat, which is ruined now from the constant leaking this past winter 2022-23 *Sunroof replaced 3/2023 Continues to leak heavily Weather Strips: Doors lacking weather strips, or the weather strips are so loose and loosely connected, it serves very little purpose, i.e., the seal attaches loosely to widely spread intermittent hooks, these are not attached securely and leak significantly. Brought to Honda: Never repaired Steering: Severe instability when both turning and accelleration!! Very dangerous when making a left hand turn from a stopped position!! This happens daily! Body Parts: Cheaply made, put together incorrectly by the manufacturer Honda in Mexico, e.g., Honda is completely aware of the plethora of body defects, including the sunroof. I am writing to report a serious issue with the paint on my white pearl Honda HR-V. The roof paint began peeling in 2023, and I initially attempted a minor repair using a paint pen from AutoZone. However, the problem has worsened significantly over the past six months. Recently, I took the vehicle to Maaco for an estimate, and they quoted approximately $2,400 to repaint the roof and side panels. I also contacted the dealership where I purchased the vehicle, and they confirmed that I had purchased an extended warranty which expired in October 2024. After researching the issue, I discovered that paint peeling is a common and widely reported problem for white pearl Honda models. …
Car paint is White Orchid Pearl and had been issued NHTSA complaint about it. The manufacturer lately issued warranty for the paint limited to 7 years (Mar/2025). Car paint started to chip off firstly on the driver side door as a small spot in 2022 and when notified the dealer, they did not pay much attention. Later on it was peeling off on the windshield on the passenger side. By the time I brought it to dealer's attention during a routine maintenance in Apr/2025, it was pass the manufacturer warranty and was told they cannot do anything about. Suddenly on Jun/2026 the car paint on the roof started to peel off in sheets exposing several inches at once. And the spots that were already damaged are now very wide spread. It surely indicate a manufacturing defect and when contact American Honda for assistance they claim it passed the warranty and now the responsibility if the customer. …
