Hey andy I have a 2013 GMC Yukon Denali XL. I got it October 2014, and will have owned it three (3) years this October. At about 40,000 miles, I discovered a crack on my dash near the air bag on the passenger side. This was about a year ago. I put in a complaint and they (GMC) told me to take my truck to a local dealer ship and they would sale me the dash at cost, but I would have to pay for the labor. The total cost would be about $800.00. I told them the truck is just a few thousand miles out of warranty and this should not be my responsibility to repair a manufacturer's defect. After thorough research, I found there are others that have the same problems as I.
My Denali has a bad crack on the dash board and I hit a bump a piece of the plastic flew and cut my face , the dash is getting worse and this is becoming a liability. I will be contacting my attorney and the bbb, about this dangerous issue. I'm glad it was me and not my children that got injured.
I have been a long time buyer of GM products, I still have a 99 tahoe, 07 GMC savanna and an 02 GMC sierra hd 2500, recently purchased a 2012 Yukon XL Denali used with 22,000 miles on it from old saybrook GMC in ct, clean as a whistle everything looked, went to wash it and spray underneath in the first week after I bought it and noticed underneath the frame wax all pealing and frame very rusted, along with many other things rusting . My 02 with 170,000 miles on it looks better then this. Also went on line and there are a lot of people complaining about the same thing. Im sure more would if they looked under there car. This has got to be a factory defect and they need to fix this problem. The dealer is telling me thats normal , I disagree seeing I have multiple cars/ gmcs my wife has a 2012 passat we bought new and is spotless underneath, and we have done nothing to the car.
My vehicle was parked in my driveway, stationary, on a suburban street in a small town overnight beginning at about 8 pm on Friday August 12,2016. The following morning, August 13, 2016 at at about 7:30 am I entered the vehicle to go to the store and observed a large crack running perpendicular with the dash from near the window to a over the instrument cluster. This is a known defect with similar GM models between 2007-2013(14). The safety concern is that the poorly crafted plastic dashboard cracks easily with no pressure applied to it. This means that that in the event of a collision, with great pressure applied, the dash would disintegrate at an alarming rate and would lead to shards of plastic impailing the occupants of the vehicle with varying amounts of harm. This defect is well documented by several other GM SUV/truck owners for this year span of production.
My dashboard is severely cracked around the passenger side airbag and cluster, which a May cause malfunctioning of the air-bag. I have done numerous searches on the internet and I am seeing this same complaint over and over. I am very curious with it happening so much why this has not been recalled and GMC taken care of this problem. I am extremely worried about safety and the high cost of repairing this myself, but I know it needs to be taken care of. I've owned GMC vehicles forever and have been very happy, up until this point. I think the company needs to address this problem, and quickly.
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon Denali XL. While driving approximately 40 MPH, the dashboard started to shake violently. The contact observed that there was a huge crack on the dashboard near the front passenger side air bag and the driver side behind the steering wheel. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed that the dashboard was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
There is a large crack on the dash near the passenger air bag. This raises safety concerns with possible faulty air bag deployment and potential for flying parts with deployment. This happened over time but was noticed when the car was stationary.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 GMC Yukon Denali XL. While stationary, the dashboard of the vehicle became cracked across the air bag section. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with case number: 8-3684476402. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000.
