What owners report

Small crack appeared suddenly in top center of dashboard that was barely noticeable from driver's seat but could be seen in the passenger's seat. Didn't think much at the time, but over the course of just over a year, the center of the dash vibrates excessively when driving on majority of surfaces that becomes very loud. Contacted GM since my standard warranty has expired and this is not covered under my extended warranty due to safety concerns with airbag in case of accident. I took to get estimate of cost to repair and owner had same issue with both his GMC Yukon's and his was replaced free. Advised to call GM for issue, they only wanted to cover 1/2 the cost of repair. This should be a recall by GM as this is an apparent problem with their vehicles and not an isolated event. …

Hey andy I have a 2013 GMC Yukon Denali XL. I got it October 2014, and will have owned it three (3) years this October. At about 40,000 miles, I discovered a crack on my dash near the air bag on the passenger side. This was about a year ago. I put in a complaint and they (GMC) told me to take my truck to a local dealer ship and they would sale me the dash at cost, but I would have to pay for the labor. The total cost would be about $800.00. I told them the truck is just a few thousand miles out of warranty and this should not be my responsibility to repair a manufacturer's defect. After thorough research, I found there are others that have the same problems as I.

The dash board is cracked and rattles near the air bag. This is concerning that if an accident would occur, the cracked dash could cause further bodily harm. This defect just showed up unexpectedly and I am afraid will crack more as time goes on. I cannot recall if it occurred while driving or stationary.

2012 Yukon Denali XL · 100,000 miles · Jun 2018

Large crack in dashboard around airbag, and above control panel. Concerned about safety and efficacy of airbag, and dashboard in the event of a front end crash. Vehicle is garage parked. GMC wants $1,600 to replace on a 6 year old vehicle with less than 60,000 miles on it.

Takata recall: I am wanting to know when the recall will have a remedy? I had an accident in dec 2016 and the air bags didn't deploy. I had a pretty severe wreck running into 3 vehicles with substantial front end damage including broken tire rod. Below is just a picture of the damage. Body shop was in disbelief that the airbags didn't deploy??

2011 Yukon Denali XL · 50,000 miles · Dec 2016 · crash · 2 injuries

Our Yukon has a crack on the corner of the passenger side airbag, and also a very large crack on the instrument panel hump of the dash. This crack continues to lengthen daily. We have real fears of the plastic breaking apart into sharp shards in the case of an accident. I worry about my teenagers riding in the front seat as I don't want them injured. Additionally we have concerns about the crack near the airbag breaking the dash into pieces if the airbag inflates. We received the Takata airbag recall over a year ago, and are still waiting for replacement. We are members of a facebook group with 6,200+ members, all with cracks in GM vehicles in the exact location. GM denies that this is a defective part and tries to blame the issue on car being in the hot sun, use of armor all, etc... But it seems to me if everyone has the exact same issue, it's a manufacturing defect. …

2011 Yukon Denali XL · 79,000 miles · Jun 2015

The dashboard is cracking near the passenger air bag and behind the steering wheel on the dash. It started cracking when it was approximately 4 years old. Everyone that I have talked to with the same vehicle or similar years is having the same problem. Dashboards should not crack if the vehicle is only 4 years old. And now I have been notified of the takat recall which is located where the dashboard problem is.

2010 Yukon Denali XL · 105,000 miles · Oct 2014

Dashboard is cracked above instrument panel. The crack is 12 inches long. It is also cracked completely to airbag on passenger side. This causes very loud rattling when driving. I am concerned it affects the quality of the airbag's ability to deploy. I am concerned that dashboard fragments May be propelled in the event of airbag deployment.
