I use the right turn signal to make a right turn at an intersection. I proceed with the turn and begin to accelerate out of the turn, as the steering wheel unturns the right turn signal is supposed to cancel as the steering wheel straightens out. Instead of cancelling the signal, straightening the wheel when accelerating out of a right turn cause the left turn signal to be triggered and in gives three signal indications for a left turn. These left turn indications are uncommanded by the driver. The issue is repeatable. It presents a serious safety concern because other drivers are being told by the truck that you intend to do something which you are not at all intending to do. Another driver could rely on these uncommand left turn indications and pull in front of the truck and cause an accident. …
Blind zone detection system and door latch system failures. The blind zone detection system is inconsistent and at times remains on with bright lights impairing the drivers ability to see at night. With this inconsistency the driver cannot rely on it properly detecting vehicles within the blind spot. Another known issue is the inability to put down windows with the drivers side door. The alert for this is to service the door latch system which typically comes on while driving the vehicle. This limits the driver being able to safely respond to traffic stops from emergency personnel as well as the ability to evacuate the vehicle through the window if necessary. The dealers that have reviewed these issues say they cannot replicate or fix them.
I have been receiving the "Service Trailer Brake System" error intermittently. The only information I have been have to find around this is a defective wiring harnesses between two modules. This defect is not due to wear/tear and has been reported as a defective part on multiple GMC models. When this service error pops up it is distracting and very unsafe for driving as well as dangerous when towing as the driver has no idea of the trailer brake system is functioning properly..
Backup lights are not working; bulbs are good. No apparent chafing/wear on wiring harness. Removed ground strap, cleaned and reattached. Still not working. 48,000 miles on 2018 GMC Canyon SLT, diesel engine.
My 2015 GMC Canyon sle pickup has a backup camera dimming problem. When backing out of my garage on a sunny day, the large display of what the camera sees behind the vehicle is bright and it is easy to see any objects located in the backup path until the vehicle reaches the location where the sun light falls on the dash. At that point the display dims to the extent where it is difficult to see any objects in the display. The dim display lasts for about 15 seconds when it instantly returns to full brightness as was visible in the garage. If one puts on sunglasses in the garage, in anticipation of sunlight outside, then the display dimming appears so severe as to not be able to see any objects in the display, until the display brightens after about 15 seconds. The word "objects" here means anything reasonably discernible on a typical driveway or roadway surface including children. …
Been having an issue with the brake light switch at the brake pedal sticking and our brake lights staying on. We notice it mostly after we have parked the truck and turn it off. The brake lights will stay illuminated, not always right away. The brake lights staying illuminated have caused our vehicle to have a dead battery many times. This issue with the brake light switch causing the lights to stay on has actually caused us to have to buy 2 brand new batteries in just over a 12 month period. This issue has killed our battery and left us stranded for hours while waiting for someone to come help us jump the battery. There is a recall out for this brake light switch issue, but this specific year is not included in the recall. Even tho this truck is having the exact same issue the the recall is for. We have been dealing with this issue for over a year now.
