I was driving around our local lake doing 25 MPH. I had just come around a curve and was headed for another curve pretty quickly. All of the sudden the car started speeding up on its own. I took my foot off the gas pedal and I hit the brakes to try to slow down and nothing happened. The car continued to speed up on its own. My speed got up to about 40 MPH when I came up on a curve. I slammed on the brakes again and tried to turn the wheel but I had no control over the car at this point. It continued to accelerate and I missed the corner and landed in a pond on the other side of the lake in about 3 1/2 feet of water. My car was then submerged up the top of the trunk in water.
My car was purchased used in feb after a few weeks the the throttle accelerated while going down the street I got it stopped and checked the mat but all looked good I assumed it was a fluke . So moved mat to trunk then today on the 4 lane in traffic it accelerated wide open it seemed . From take off at red light .I had brakes stomped to floor to no avail I had to try to get it off the road to keep from hitting cars so I swerved off at opening and hit curbs a went thru small right of way field to another road in oncoming traffic . Busted wheels and tires .. The car slid a few 100 feet sideways on flat tires before it stopped I was very lucky to survive.
While backing out of a driveway with foot on the brake, the vehicle accelerated on its own and crashed into a dirt embankment. The gas pedal had not been touched since the vehicle had been started, but the vehicle accelerated forcefully enough to redline the engine and cause substantial body damage on impact. Taking the vehicle to a dealership for diagnostic found no obvious issues and no recorded error codes in the vehicle's computer.
I was at the exit of a parking lot and waiting to turn out onto the street. When I began to turn, my car started to accelerate way faster than it should have. I hit the brakes but my car wasn't slowing down and kept accelerating. I hit the "off" on my cruise control thinking maybe it became active but nothing happened, as I began to come close to the car ahead of me I turned left onto the next street still hitting my brakes (at this point I had gone a block and a half with my brake pedal pressed in). As I turned, I had trouble controlling the vehicle I ended up hitting the curb with my front passenger side. After the impact the acceleration had stopped, I could hear something had broken, and felt it as I was slowing down because my car wasn't traveling straight and I couldn't turn easily. …
There's a chronic hesitation when you push the accelerator from a yield/merge type situation at low-speed. It's not every time but many times. Today I was going around a car that was sitting in the road with it's flashers on (ie double parked) and there was a car in the other lane on the 2-lane one-way street and I stepped on the peddle to accelerate slightly and it totally choked and I thought I was going to get hit in the rear and then it kicked in. I noted this way back when I bought it and at that time I thought it had something to do with the gearing which it still could. I told service about the issue and I even took them for a drive but of course that time it didn't happen. I've tried over years to id the problem more but while I can see somewhat of a pattern it's not guaranteed. …
I was driving my 2007 Ford Mustang gt down city streets when the accelerator locked up. The car continued to accelerate despite removing my foot from the gas pedal and applying the brakes did little to help slow the car. This caused me to run a 3-way intersection, which forced me to turn at dangerous rate of speed. I ended up running the car off the road, over a curb/sidewalk and into a small tree to stop it. The car sustained damage to both driver's side tires, the driver's front fender, bumper, driver's side front wheel and front suspension.
Tl* the contact owned a 2007 Ford Mustang. While driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle surged forward when the accelerator pedal was depressed. In addition, the brakes failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed. The vehicle crashed into a tree. A police report was filed. The front passenger sustained a laceration on the left hand, which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
I was leaving a stop sign and accelerated from 1st to 2nd. I was going about 30mph in second when suddenly, the vehicle went to a wot (wide open throttle) condition. The sudden acceleration caused the rear of the car to spin, striking a tree. The acceleration was sudden and completely unexpected. This is the second such occasion that this condition occurred. Cruise control was set to on as it was used before reaching the stop sign. Also, stock floor mats were in place.
