Unknown reason: on dec.28 2016 I@ 1535 I was driving on interstate #30 in arkansas. I was driving @ a speed of 70 MPH when all the power went off in my car. I was unable to turn on flashers or restart car. Behind me was a 18 wheeler and on my right side was a car. I immediately began to lose speed. It just so happened that the other drivers noticed I was in trouble. Both drivers put their hazard lights on and slowed traffic enabling me to steer the car ( with no power) to the shoulder. I put the car in park turned the radio and heater off and tried to restart it. It did restart but I left the radio and heater off. I was 34.1 mi from home. I prayed all the way home and did not drive over 60 MPH.( I could have been killed !!!). When I finally arrived at home, I put my car in park and the car turned itself off. The car keys were still in the on position! …

I got into my car, turned the key in the ignition and it started sounding like a helicopter. This noise happens while the vehicle is in park, neutral and while reversing. I have spoken with a transmission shop and have been told it is a known problem with the internal components of the transmission. It will cost around $6000.00 to fix. There is still plenty of life left in my car. No body or interior or damage/issues. I still have 2 years left on my loan. If Ford knows about this issue it should have been repaired. This is dangerous and now I am not able to drive my car for fear of getting hurt or being stranded.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Ford Freestyle. While attempting to pull out of the driveway, the contact noticed fuel running down the incline underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that there was a fracture on the fuel tank. Also, both fuel pumps were corroded and needed replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Auto was repaired 2008 by non Ford dealer before the recall happened for problem of auto surging forward and backwards. Then Ford reimbursed the money $700.00 of repair. Now car has 110K miles and is surging forward and backwards again . Very dangerous for me and family. I would like for Ford to repair my vehicle again. Original repair was for the car surging forward and backwards and I feel that with only 110K miles on it, I should not be experiencing this dangerous issue again!!!

Unable to start car immediately after filling gas tank. Also, upon stopping at light or turning a corner it feels like the gas is not going to the engine and I am unable to move forward. This forces me to pull over to the side of the road.. At the time I had the air conditioner on and now am told the compressor is bad. There is loud clicking (like the computer is 'thinking') coming from under the dash.

2007 Ford Freestyle with 36,000 miles last summer began "lurching" when pulling into/out of parking space. This summer now at 57,000 miles the lurching is becoming more frequent. It occurs primarily when the following conditions are combined: 1) engine is warm, 2) A/C is on, 3) at complete stop with brakes applied and 4) turn the steering wheel in preparation for a turn. Reviewed several owner forums for the problem and several owners report same problem with answer from Ford being "replace the throttle body". Problem- throttle body replacement hard to find. Took mine in for service and reported above problem to service dept. Answer was "need new throttle body". Will try to find one, on back order. "car is unsafe to drive" per Ford service department. After evaluation condition is worse. Car now idles below 500 rpms, and fluctuates constantly, even w/o A/C on (worse when A/C on). …

I have a 2007 Ford Freestyle sel with approx 91,000 odometer reading. Over the past 3-4 months we have noticed the car surging and lurching forward after coming to a complete stop and without any depression of the gas pedal whatsoever. Several times we have almost collided with vehicles in front of us at intersections. We have definitely learned to "cover the brake" at intersections. This also happens when the car is in reverse backing out of the driveway, for instance, and stopping to shift into drive. The car will surge or lurch backwards and if you are not covering the brake while in drive or reverse, the car will accelerate without touching the gas pedal. This happens every day now approximately 5-10 times. I took the vehicle to bob moore Ford in oklahoma city and the mechanic diagnosed this problem as a bad throttle body. …

Our2007 Ford Freestyle is doing something exactly as described by many other owners on the internet. Not every time, but intermittently, when you put the car in drive or reverse the engine revs and the car surges a few feet. More often than not when it does this our foot will be on the brake. Initially I thought I must have had part of my foot on the accelerator. I now know for sure that no part of my foot is on the accelerator when this is happening. We are having to be very careful when driving the car, because of this dangerous situation. If you don't have your foot hard on the brake when putting it into gear, and if there was a person or a vehicle in front or behind you, you would hit them. Initially it May only happen once or twice a month, but now it is happening more frequently. When we first brought it to a Ford dealership they said they had no idea why this was happening. …

We have owned this car for just over a year. For several months now, we have been having problems with the car surging/lunging. It happens without any notice, and you have to slam on the brakes to stop it. Initially, I only noticed the problem when pulling into a parking space. The vehicle would lunge forward. In the last couple of months it has started lunging backward and forward, regardless of how fast I was going (pulling in, backing up, or driving down the highway at a steady speed.) once, the car lunged as I was backing up and hit another car. Minor damage. Not reported. It is starting to happen more often, and the car has also begun dying if it happens whole backing up. Turning the car off and restarting it solves that. I've had to start parking further back in spots because I don't want to hit the car in front of me. …

We purchased this vehicle new 8/18/07 from palm coast Ford. In May or June 2010 I began noticing the car lunging when backing out of parking spots or once you have backed out and then placed into drive. I also encountered an issue with the car stalling if parked on an incline. On 7.5.10 the vehicle was left for several days with palm coast Ford for diagnostics and they claimed nothing was wrong with the car as they could not duplicate the "issues." as this "issue" did not seem appropriate I visited the daytona beach Ford dealership but this was not a documented visit as was the palm coast Ford visit. The daytona Ford service manager indicated it was a just the way the car was designed to prevent stalling when backing up or pulling forward. So I lived with this problem hoping that it wouldn't lunge and hit someone in a parking lot. …
