While driving, the tire blew out. Upon inspection, tread was gone and there was a huge hole in the sidewall. There was only 6000 miles on this tire. Tires were inspected and pressure checked just a few hours prior to this incident. Reported it to Firestone when I returned home, asking if there was any problem with this type of tire, but all they did was send a tracking number wt20020819-0000000185. They said they would respond in the next several days. That e-mail was sent on 8/19/02, we have not heard from them since. ***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****770776
Within 2 weeks time, two tires blew out on my Ford f-450 business truck. When I called a tire service to fix them out on the road they told me there was a recall on all these tires because of faulty valve stems. Then I found out it was only for all halliburton company tires only. Ford told me it was a general/continental tire problem.
Dt*: the contact stated there is not enough clearance on the hub pilot rear wheels to be able to remove the wheels. In 2004 an independent repair shop used a cutting torch to remove the wheels in pieces. At that time the repair shop applied two new rear wheels and remounted the tires. Now the same thing is happening with the replacement wheels. Additionally the horn blows on its own. An independent mechanic replaced the horn relay. Shortly after the replacement the horn sounded again on its own. This is more likely to happen in damp/ humid weather conditions. The dealership was made aware of the problems.
This is my third Firestone tire on the same vehicle. 2-11-04 @est.1500 hrs in baker ca. Mileage 9,950 miles. *left front tire tread started to come off of Firestone tire casing. It is really sad that Firestone isn't held accountable for putting out such bad tires. Firestone per norma y. Gray my tire failures are all my fault. No one but Firestone can keep the right pressure or not damage the tire causing it to come apart. I' m beginning to think this is a waste of time.
While driving and without warning, the right rear outside Firestone tire experienced tread separation. Size#lt22575r16. Ph. An indent report was enclosed. The company stated the tire had been operated for long period of time with insufficient air pressure to carry the load and the tire failure was not a result of a defect in the materials or workmanship.
1999 Ford f-350 dually 1 ton 4x4 aluminum wheels have cracked right front and left rear spare tire carrier cable broke....spare fell off on highway and lost. Both of the above failures could have resulted in very serious accidents.
