What owners report
We have had numerous incidents with our Excursion dating back to one week after we purchased it used from a local Ford dealership in July 2009 until now - sept. 2012. We began experiencing acceleration issues after the first week. We returned the vehicle to the dealership for a diagnostic evaluation. They replaced the ipr and fuel pump. This seemed to fix the problem until January 2011. In January 2011, the accelerator began failing again. It would just stop working. The car would crank initially and then fail to recrank if turned off within a short amount of time (I.e. Driving to the store). We were told that we needed a new fuel sensor. That didn't fix the problem. We then had the catalytic converter replaced. That didn't fix it. Yesterday, while driving in afternoon traffic with my children, everything once again shut off. I barely managed to make it to the side of the road. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 Ford Excursion. The contact stated that while driving 15 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate while the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis where it was advised that the injector pressure system needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.
Tl contact owns a 2004 Ford Excursion. In July of 2009 the vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall 09V399000 vehicle speed control; however, the repair didn't correct the failure. On July 30, 2010 while driving the contact noticed smoke under the hood. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who stated that a faulty switch in the cruise control area caused the fan and fuses to fail. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was no longer under warranty and the switch was only replaced at the time of the recall repair; therefore, if it was leaking they are not responsible for the switch failing. The failure mileage was 131,000 and the current mileage was 140,000.
Purchased new 2004 Ford Excursion on 3/9/2004. Within a month we discovered a problem with the cruise control. When going down hill, the unit would fail to re-engage as it started back up the hill. Sometimes it would re-engage with a massive surge of engine. Once the engine totally stalled forcing us to fight the vehicle off the road and out of the flow of traffic. After three returns to the dealership, they finally admitted that there is a known defect and Ford is working on determining a fix. We have been calling and waiting since April, 2004 to have this repaired. In the meantime, we do not dare use the cruise control for fear of another stall in heavy traffic. We have continually called the dealership and Ford motor (reference number 1684711834). Each time we call, they ask the same questions over and over and have yet to tell us an estimated date for a fix. …
Tamara recall while driving or stopped the cars power does 100% shut off. No codes or warning lights. In dec/2016 driving on a on a east on charleston blvd in nv, after pulling out of cit bank parking lot going about 45 MPH the light turned red and when I went to break the pedal was hard and that's when I saw no power. By then it was too late and we were going to crash. I had no power steering or ABS and I hit the car. It caused 12000 of damage to the car in front of me. No airbags deployed. Only bumper and fog light damage to my truck thankfully. After that the problem didn't re accur until 2/2017 and left me stranded over night on the road and now last night 5/13/2017 the car was off no keys in the ignition and I saw smoke that came from where the battery sits not sure what that was but odd it was. …
