Tl* the contact owns a 2000 Dodge Neon. The contact stated that while attempting to stop the vehicle, the anti-lock braking system failed and caused her to crash into the rear of another vehicle. The seat belts did not properly restrain and the air bags did not deploy. The contact and a passenger were reported injured and transported to the hospital via ambulance. The police were notified and a police report was filed. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed to the contact's residence. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised that there was an open recall on the vehicle for the brakes (NHTSA campaign id number: 01V154000-service brakes, hydraulic: power assist: vacuum) but not for the seat belt and air bags. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 129,000.
Bought car from father in law, he bought the car new. He had no problems with it.soon after I bought from him in 2000(it was still new!),power windows quit working then started working again.cruise control went out, still dont work. Front end crash 2003 May, 4783.45 in damage, air bag did not deploy at 40mph !!! I had car repaired by non Chrysler garage as per advice of erie insurance co. Erie wont cover because they say its Chrysler's problem, Chrysler says its my problem because work was done at non daimler Chrysler garage and they were rude and hung up on me! Erie told me to have diagnostic check done on it becuz in aug 03 the air bag lite started to come on and horn wont work. I had the check done and they said clockspring needs replaced. Not erie or Chrysler will fix.
I bought my car in January of 2001. I was looking through the recalls on my vehicle and there was one in April of 2001 and I did not receive anything on it. It was something about the brakes and the car idling up to high and I am having problems with that. When I push my brakes it fills like it is going to take off by itself. I have 2 very small children and I think that if you have recalls on cars that everyone that has that car should know so that no more injuries can occur due to the problem. I would greatly appreciate it if someone would send me something on this problem so that I can take it to my local dealership and get it seen about. I have a 2000 Dodge Neon, and as I said I found this recall on this site and I was not contacted about it in 2001 nor was I aware that such a recall exsisted. …
Water leaking in brake power booster cause brakes to freeze in cold; brake valves needed to be replaced; front wheel bearings needed to be replaced; ABS system disconnect- not working properly - controller given off error code - possible need to be replace; all brake system lights on in car - no diagnosis for problem; rattling noise in dash board; high humming noise under car when drive - unable to hear radio between rattling & humming noises; ac work but no heat; when driving wheels sometimes feel like they are going to fall off; recently found out car failed nys emission test on date of purchase; I filed complaint with better business bureau regarding dealer where I brought car from - they have failed to respond.
My car was totaled after being involved in an automotive accident on October 29, 2000. As I exited sr - 869 at atlantic blvd I applied my brakes and they failed . This failure caused my veh to crash into another veh and that veh hit the veh in front of it. The driver of veh 2 sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital. I did not understand why my brakes failed on that night until I received a recall notice on this vehicle and subsequent models also. I have sustained alot of monetary loss due to this brake failure and my driving record is ruined..I am filing this complaint prior to seeing an attorney . I would apppreciate any help that you could give me.
Unfortunately I ran into a driver whom was in front of me due to low visibility & bad brakes. My headlights are extremely dull & foggy. Also, whomever own the car before me had the brake vacuum replaced due to recall & ever since I've purchased the car there's been a brake problem. Such as needing a new master cylinder, new propositioning, new brake shoes, and wheel cylinder. I have receipts of all work completed. I have a one year old whom ride along and I'm highly concerned about his safety. I love the car but if it continues I will junk out my car and look to sue Dodge Chrysler and whomever else associated with the making of the vehicle.
I leased a 2000 Dodge Neon for 4 years. Over the course of the lease, I had continued trouble with rear brake noise (squealing), and took it in for service 3 times, and was told there was nothing wrong with the brakes. When I returned the vehicle at the end of the lease, I was billed $150 to fix the squealing rear brakes. I do not feel that I should be held accountable for this since I did attempt to have the brakes fixed 3 times. I should not be penalized for Dodge/Chrysler's "faulty" product.
Received recall notice 01V154000. Several dealerships refused to do repairs. Contacted manufacturer, and was informed to set up appointment with dealership. Took vehicle to dealership, and service manager refused to do recall repairs on brakes vacuum booster hose. Was driving vehicle down mountain, and had no brakes to slow down. Vehicle went off mountain. Driver jumped out and suffered serious injuries. Vehicle totaled. Manufacturer indicated not responsible for non repairs.
When driving at 20-40 MPH consumer applied brakes when vehicle started to decelerate, but vehicle failed to stop in a timely manner, causing consumer to rear end another vehicle. Insurance company informed consumer that there was a recall, 01V154, consumer had not received any recall, insurance company is pursuing the matter with Chrysler.
My 2000 Dodge Neon has had two brake failures. At approx 30000 miles, my driver rear brake assembly failed. At approx 33000 miles, my passenger side rear brake assey has also failed. In the first incident the dealer repaired without explaining the nature of the problem. I'll find out about this one. It goes into the shop on Thursday, 12/04/03.
