The vehicle was running on idle parked after being driven and on for less than 20 minutes. I started the van at 8:35. Drove away at 8:41, let it run on idle for 5 minutes, drove away, let it idle for 2 minutes at 9:04, drove away, let it idle at 9:06 and was smoking and had flames by 9:23 when we noticed it. The heat gauge didn't change, there was no indication that my engine was on fire or there was any issue. It drove fine, no smell, nothing. We have zero idea what happened other than it started in the engine compartment. Is it currently still sitting in the parking lot that it was pushed to away from the building as to not cause more damage to the building. It was sitting outside a building, so everyone inside and outside were in the area of smoke and flames. There is not a police report, but there is a fire report. I can email that over if needed. …

On the 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan equipped with remote start via key fob, the following hazardous senario can occur. The vehicle is parked in an "attached" garage with all doors to that space closed. The remote start function can be activated nearby from the dwelling, unintentionally, and without human awareness, since activation of this function only requires 2 clicks of the remote start button within 5 seconds. This can occur with key fob in the pocket, for example, or by other random means. The vehicle, functioning as designed, will start in the enclosed space, and run for up to 15 minutes. Substantial exhaust gases can accumulate in the garage space during this period, with substantial risk of carbon monoxide existing in that space and permeation into adjacent living spaces. …

The vehicle has experienced repeated serious engine/cooling-system problems. It ran hot/overheated and would lose some power on even very slight inclines; when this occurred, the temperature gauge would rise. It never completely lost power or stalled. The vehicle developed an engine ticking noise that continues. An oil-pressure warning appeared, and the check-engine light repeatedly came on. In approximately March 2026, the engine failed and was replaced with a used engine reportedly having approximately 40,000 miles. Within approximately six months, the replacement engine developed additional oil-pressure/oil-system problems and continues to make a ticking noise. The vehicle has required substantial additional repairs. …

I had the check engine light on for an unknown amount of time, as the initially lookover of the vehicle with the dealership advised it was a gascap sensor. However, they did attempt to fix by changing the sparkplugs when it was inspected June 2024 which didn't correct the issue. Since then, it has been looked at by 2 mechanic shops due to the following problem. When I drive at 40+ mph, the car starts shaking violently. When ran with diagnostic/ testing the engine, it was found that Cylinder 2 keeps misfiring/ has a pressure issue, even after replacing the spark plugs and the fuel injector. Even after replacing those components, the cylinder misfire , lowered compression, and the shaking while driving all still persisted. …

this Dodge Caravan has an engine problem with cylinder 2 misfire that has occurred in numerous vans with this motor. this van was purchased to aid my handicap wife and will no longer pass the Georgia Emissions Test required to purchase a valid tag. i have spent the normal repair dollars for the basic items suggested, however, everyone with this problem considers it a manufactures defect. Social media is full of owners with the same complaint. this problem seems to occur just after the factory warranty has expired, so dodge is not wanting to cover the expense. to have a 2019 model vehicle that can not pass the safety emission test is quite up setting to me. There needs to be a recall on this issue or an exempt status for this vehicle, since Dodge is not standing behind their product. By the way, my family has 2 of these exact vans, and both are failing in the same manner. …
