Normal use of the car....driving around town etc........the left front wheel bearing came loose and the wheel/tire assembly came off the car and car came down on the wheel causing fender damage. Replaced both lower ball joints at the automotive shop to avoid any more loss of car control. Old part is available.

Front › Control arm › Lower ball joint · 109,000 miles · Aug 2005 · crash

The sealed ball joints on the right, front were completely void of grease. The ball joints popped out during a lane change and caused the vehicle to skid out of control to the right, across two lanes of heavy traffic. Fortunately the vehicles to the right saw the incident and took the appropriate actions to avoid collision. The front of the vehicle dropped to the ground, breaking apart the front grill. The right front tire was turned at a 90 degree angle to the car and caused the fender to bend outward. I noticed a popping sound two days prior to incident and in the morning of 12/26/1998 I had scheduled a mechanic to service the popping noise for the morning of 12/27/1998. The incident occurred two hours after I had scheduled the mechanic to examine and repair the vehicle.

Brakes all 38 →

Brakes continue to make noise; front brakes replaced -- still noise; while stopped at a red light, the transmission acted as though it was in neutral -- had to wait for it to re-engage in gear. The glove box just fell out -- the hinge pin was made of plastic and disintigrated. The front bumper section has separated and is falling off -- this is a plastic piece that encompasses the entire front of the car. The brakes are the real safety issue in my opinion -- they do not feel trustworthy and the noise they make when you put pressure on the brake pedal has continued for over two years. The dealer is totally disinterested!!!!

Antilock brake light comes on when raining or car is washed, service dept. Stated that water is entering the brake computer, after it dries out, the light goes out and the antilock brakes start working correctly. Service personel stated that this is not a safety recall issue and I would have to pay the entire cost (app. $480.) to replace the unit. I was under the impression that if the antilock brakes (or airbags) became defective, because it is safety equipment, that the manufacturer must replace or fix at no cost if the defect was not due to a crash.

Electrical system

Car repeateadly stalls, won't stay running on start up. Engine skips or cuts out while driving. When it acts up at night headlights, dash lights flash bright, idiot lights flash on. When doing this A/C cuts out and so does cruise control. Car bucks so bad that it feels like car was hit. If it does it on takeoff from a light it looks like I'm driving a stick and car is automatic.

Ignition · Feb 2002

Vehicle will not start again after being shut off. It took at least 3 minutes. Dealer claimed it was a computer related problem, and computer needed to be replaced. Did a diagnostic, but it showed nothing.
