I was on your web site and noticed that a recall notice was placed concerning my 2000 Daewoo nuberia. I called the NHTSA hotline, as there are no longer any Daewoo dealers in the us. The lady who answered stated that, even though I was never informed of the recall - concerning the breaks on the car - I have no recourse because there are no Daewoo dealers in the us. The only notice that I received from Daewoo was the letter stating that they are no longer conducting business in the us. I think that it is incredulous that I can not have this issue taken care of. I will be saving the page that documents the break and hose problems attributed with my car. If my car encounters problems, the dot and NHTSA will be sent the bill to reimburse any costs that incurr, as I was told by a representative of NHTSA, a division of the dot, that "there is nothing (I) can do."

I purchased a new Daewoo Nubira in June 2000. In May 2003 the check engine light came on and remained on despite numerous diagnotic and repair attempts. The light remained on for over a year. In January of 2004 I took my car for the now required emissions test, it failed due to the camshaft sensor. I purchased the required part, a camshaft position sensor, on 1/15/04 and paid a mechanic to perform the repairs. The light illuminated again within 3 days of repair. On September 12th, I received a notification of defect from Daewoo motoramerica, adressing the said camshaft sensor. One month later the car began to hesitate while I was driving, and would not accelerate smoothly, finally it in May, while I was driving on the highway, all the lights on the instument panel came on, the car began to shake and then just shut down. …
When the consumer turned the key in the ignition, the vehicle accelerated without the gas pedal being depressed. The front brakes were noisy and were found corroded, a loud noise was coming from the A/C, the cup holder was inoperative, the tech found the fog lamp was inoperative, the trunk was inoperative, the tire was wearing uneven, both front control arms were noisy, there was an electrical wiring problem, the cam belt had broken and there was possible cylinder head damage, the vehicle would not start due to the timing belt which broke and caused the valves to bend. The consumer stated the rear brakes were noisy, there was a loud noise coming from the air condition, the fog lamp was inoperative, the hub cap was replaced, the trunk latch was replaced, the left and right control arms were replaced.
While driving and upon depressing brake pedal attempting to make a gradual stop, pedal traveled to the floorboard, causing extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacted dealer, dealer was unable to determine the cause of the problem. The brake failed to engage still after repair was done.
