Owner reports

Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2008 Chrysler Sebring owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).

I have a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Sedan. The radiator is leaking fluid that splashes all over the wires causing a burning smell. I later found out that this is caused by an electrical issue with the sensors. Similarly my tire pressure sensors are fried. These issues have eroded wires causing my A/C and Cruise Control systems to malfunction. My power windows have issues sometimes I can't get them to roll up or down. My internal lights in my car flickering on and off. The mess from the radiator is also causing my engine to overheat. I am now having issues with oil pan leaks as a result of too much pressure from the engine. I see that only certain VINS were added to the recall list. I strongly suggest that NHTSA add other VINS to the recall list, especially mine, since I'm having those exact same issues. I see that there are complaints about this year make and model as recent as last year. …

My TPS light has been on for quite some time and after a short time since the first time it appeared my issue worsens everyday. My car STALLS, not only when I am stopped at a light, but even when I am driving at high speeds and the Check Engine light stays on all the time and blinks and dings at times and now the airbag light is on as well and blinks and dings all the time while the car is started. I took the car to get check for error codes, but none come up when the diagnostics is ran.

In February 2021 my car wouldn't stop, tried to give it a jump and it still wouldn't start. Replaced the battery and it started working again. In April 2021 my engine light came on. I got a diagnostic and the error code read: P2016 Intake Manifold Runner Position Sensor/Switch Circuit Low Bank 1. I didn't get it fixed. Shortly after, I began hearing a faint crackling noise and noticed when I would drive on turn pikes my a red brake symbol would briefly pop up on my dash board and then go away. In May 2021 my horn stopped working and front right turn signal light stopped working. I tried to get a new one installed it wouldn't work. I was told it could be an electrical issue. In July 2021 my right low beam head light stopped working. I tried to get a new bulb installed and it still wouldn't work. At this time I was told the same thing, that it seems like there may be an electrical issue. …

On the date mentioned, I was driving an enterprise rental car, 2008 Chrysler Sebring lx, from idaho falls, id to salt lake city, ut. I was traveling appx. 73-75mph with the cruise control set for the last 50 miles. I was approaching asemi truck/trailer and tapped the brakes to disengage the cruise control. At that time the car started to accelerate, I tapped the brakes two more times to try to disengage the cc and the car just continued to accelerate. At this time I decided I need to take a more aggressive approach and started slamming on the brakes which caused me to lose control of the car and strike the rear end of the trailer. That caused me to spin out of control and enter into the center median of the I-15. I was able to get the car stopped after the wreck. For whatever reason, I couldn't get the cc to disengage and in fact the cc caused the vehicle to suddenly accelerate. …

My accelerator has been sticking and begin not long after I bought the car used in 2010. I thought at first it was the car mat getting in the way but that was not the case this last time on Sunday October 2,2011. I was pulling into parking space and had my foot off the accelerator when the car accelerated on its own and I hit the cement curb which was taller than most. There was substantial damage to the lower passenger side of the car. I was able to slam on the brakes getting it to stop before further damage. My daughter was in the car with me but no one was injured. If the curb would not have been tall the car would have more and likely jumped it and ran into building, but because of height of it this did not happen. I then got out and inspected the damage which was less than I thought it would be and no air bags disbursed.

My husband and I are experiencing problems recently with the car stahling out and or getting stuck in low gear while driving on the hwy, it was terrifying! We are currently not at home and have a 10 hour drive back home while driving this extremely unstable car and am honestly scared to death we are going to get in an accident! This is the 3rd battery swap we've done in 3 months but only have last 2 receipts. We have done research and this car has had electrical recall for this problem however apparently our VIN dont match up to the recall. I dont understand it, this is extremely horrible business from Chrysler and as soon as we can get home hopefully safely.. We wont buy another. Please help fast!

As I was driving 70 MPH on the highway, the throttle control warning light came and the car begin to loss power and hesitate. I pulled off the road and it began to stall and jump. The car was losing power and I could not go past 45 MPH. Another problem I am having is the instrument panel light went off and I cannot see the gas gauge, speedometer, etc. The vehicle is currently sitting in the parking lot until I can get it towed to be checked and/or fixed. It currently runs, but I am afraid to drive it.
