Dt: contact complained of a lot of problems with the car. There was a new water pump/new battery cables/ new brakes/rotors, and pads on the car. Also, put in a new heater coil. They did something to the air conditioner, and it will cost approximately $500-600 to fix it. Currently there is an electrical problem. While driving down the street the car automatically shuts off. It is an electrical problem because they have replaced the lights in the car and they shorted out. Consumer was told there was an electrical problem.
I tried for over a mile to disengage the cruise control with the switch and brake. I started on level Land, went uphill and down and had the brake to the floorboard. There were toll booths with a number of occupied vehicles in line. To avoid injurying or killing someone, I left the roadway hitting barriers and unoccupied vehicles. My wife suffered numerous bruising and bent glasses. I suffered a broken strernum and have developed fluid in my lungs and possibly around my heart. My prognosis is uncertain at this time.
Tl contact owns a 1997 Chrysler LHS. While the vehicle was being serviced for routine maintenance, the transmission pan was cleaned. Several hours after the repair, while driving in reverse, the accelerator pedal became stuck in the applied position. The contact was unable to apply the brakes. She had to remove the key from the ignition in order to stop the vehicle. The dealer replaced the master cylinder, but the failure recurred several weeks later. She is in the process of taking the vehicle back to the dealer for a proper diagnosis. The failure mileage was 97,000 and current mileage is 104,000. Updated 3/30/09 *cnthe brake pedal went to the floor and the acclerator pedal was stuck. Updated 03/31/09.
The problem with the brakes was there when I purchased the car. I asked the dealer to fix the brake chatter. They allegedly serviced the brakes and the problem was improved but still there. However, now that the car has been through a little more mileage, the problem is getting markedly worse. I think the rotors must be warped. Seems that this should have been corrected when I asked the dealer the first time. After reading some of the bulletin boards on this problem, I see that this is probably a material defect in the rotor composition. Please help me to resolve this problem. I file this complaint because I wish to officially document the severe chatter that occurs when braking at around 45 MPH. It probably would not be such a problem if the steering wheel didn't vibrate so violently. I'm concerned about a loss of control in an emergency situation. Thanks, robert murry
After removing the ignition key, from parked vehicle it rolled forward down a hill and smashed another vehicle. Vehicle was parked on level ground. The vehicle traveled a city block. The consumer believed the problem started after the recall on floor shifter was performed.
Upon test driving this vehicle I noted to the salesman that the brakes felt like they woudnt stop the car -they set up an appointment to check the brakes and relpace the hood shocks -upon keeping the appointment they replaced the hood shocks and let my wife leave w/o checking the brakes -a Dodge technician told me Chrysler has that no stop type of effect when they install value line brake pads-this concerns me -we now have a car we havnt made a payment on yet and now its close to totaled-others I know w/ this body style has experienced similar stopping problem-also it hit hard enough to brake the wheel assymbly and axle on right front and jambded both pass. …
